Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Muhammad Ismail. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse. Please refrain from moving articles en masse. If you wish to change the article title for "Thoothukudi" and related pages, please discuss at Talk:Thoothukudi to achieve consensus beforehand.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited S. S. Ramasami Padayatchiyar, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Minister for Local Government (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hello, I noticed that you may have recently made edits to Thoothukudi (state assembly constituency) while logged out. Wikipedia's policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow the use of both an account and an IP address by the same person in the same setting and doing so may result in your account being blocked from editing. Additionally, making edits while logged out reveals your IP address, which may allow others to determine your location and identity. If this was not your intention, please remember to log in when editing. Thank you. DrKay (talk) 19:49, 19 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Important Notice

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

BJP regional parties

[edit]

Do not move articles on one topic like Bharatiya Janata Party, Rajasthan to another title Bharatiya Janata Party, Tamil Nadu and then overwriting the content. Even attempting to repair this by copying the existing content back to the first title breaches Wikipedia's rules on providing attribution for the editors of an article. By all means use the first title as a guide on creating the second but do not repeat the move and copy/paste you made here. Nthep (talk) 19:30, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi Articist! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Tamil Nadu that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Official Opposition (India) into List of leaders of the opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 21:28, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Module:Political party/I. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam does not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits a summary may be quite brief.

Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Venkat TL (talk) 20:15, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at List of presidents of India shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
you also appear to be edit warring without discussion anywhere on the same article, please stop. PRAXIDICAE🌈 16:07, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

April 2023

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Module:Political party, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Dhruv edits (talk) 15:24, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Dhruv edits (talk) 15:41, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to engage in subtle vandalism by making unexplained changes to information, as you did at Module:Political party/A, you may be blocked from editing. Dhruv edits (talk) 13:42, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not move pages without consensus

[edit]

Hi. I see you've moved Anna Memorial and MGR Memorial to vernacular terms which are not the WP:COMMONNAME that Wikipedia insists. This way one can translate every article into its equivalent Tamil term which even the native speaker will seldom use as a search term. Please do not move any page without consensus. If you suggest any change, please start a discussion on the article's talk page in order to obtain consensus from other editors. Thank you. Rasnaboy (talk) 17:48, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Communication issues

[edit]

There is no doubt that you avoiding any communication as visible from your whole talk page. You will have to respond to the message I posted on Talk:All_India_Anna_Dravida_Munnetra_Kazhagam#Ideology. I will take you to WP:ANI if you failed to reply in a timely fashion. Editorkamran (talk) 02:31, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Editorkamran (talk) 05:08, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Articist: you are expected to explain why you are reverting, and you are expected to respond when editors ask you questions in good faith about your edits. You have thrice reverted Editorkamran on All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam without explaining why, and you have continued editing the article after Editorkamran asked you to explain. Please respond to Editorkamran's question at Talk:All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
If you continue editing without responding, you will be sanctioned. Thank you. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 13:26, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
