Lack of Citations and Encyclopedic Tone

[edit]
  • No citations throughout the whole article, only external links

- citations needed to prove much of the information in the article

  • Much of the article needs to be rewritten in a more encyclopedic tone

- review of the change log reveals that much of the article was written by Doheny himself, which is a COI. - sounds promotional and informal - ex. "Doheny is noted as a colorful raconteur (no small accomplishment in a city like New Orleans)"

Not done: Unless you have a COI with the subject, you should not be making a COI edit request. Agree that the article needs a major rewrite with proper citations. Xan747 (talk) 02:25, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
☑ Clarified Actually this editor did indeed declare their COI at the Teahouse just recently, which is why they probably haven't been able to post the declaration yet on their talk page. To Izlhyl, in order to process your request, we need specific proposals from you that we can review. A good place to look is at the {{Request edit}} template's page, where you'll find suggestions for how this is to be done. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for the clarification and apologies to Izlhyl for the mixup. Xan747 (talk) 03:00, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I took a look at the template, but I'm still not sure what to do in this place because I feel like large sections of the article (in particular the lead section, which is basically the whole article) needs to be rewritten. I can assist in providing references.
I was also wondering how to declare the COI in my talk page.
Thanks again! Izlhyl 03:47, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
