Huggle edit summary
Why was the Huggle summary linked to WP:Huggle like this compared to this? WAYNEOLAJUWON 00:42, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- They appear similar enough to me. What do you see that is of concern? Tiderolls 00:44, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- One was linked like this: (HG)) and the other one was linked like this: (HG)). What can I do because I didn't use Huggle last year? WAYNEOLAJUWON 00:46, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- What can you do about what? and the links look the same to me....I'm not being dense on purpose, promise. Tiderolls 00:50, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- I didn't use Huggle last year which I wish I did and have even more Huggle edits than I actually have. How was Huggle when you used it for the first time? One link goes to WP:Huggle and the other one went to WP:HG. It's true what you're saying. How did you feel when you first used Huggle? WAYNEOLAJUWON 00:53, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- Concentrating on edit numbers will distract you from what is important. Huggle was much the same...I really haven't notice much change. Most of the changes have been to work around the new Beta version so are not really functional changes. WP:HG just redirects to Wikipedia:Huggle Tiderolls 00:59, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- Also, when you first started Huggle, then you weren't an administrator and now you are. You still use Huggle before and after you became an adminstrator. Last year and earlier this year there were better Huggle users and more notable Huggle users than there is now, in my opinion. Am I a notable Huggle user which means familiar user? Will you also block Catmandestroyer? WAYNEOLAJUWON 01:04, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
Excessive linking
Hey I thought I'd bring your attention to this editor since he seems to be a sock of the IP that was overlinking a bunch of articles that you ended up placing protection on. I have know idea what to do with the guy in terms of reporting. Help? I'm running around cleaning up after him right now. Millahnna (talk) 08:10, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
Singapore media articles
I'm afraid that the phantom-wikilinking editor may be back... --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 08:24, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- Hello, Ohconfucius. I appreciate you and Millahnna keeping an eye on things while I slept. It sure appears that the registered user is picking up where the IPs were working. I will leave word on their talk, although I expect to be ignored as was the case previously. As for reporting (to answer Millahnna's question in the section above), the best result may be posting at AN/I (Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents). You may find help at AVI (Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism) even though the edits weren't technically vandalism. When a registered user takes the "torch" from IPs I can see where an admin would find that disruptive enough to act upon if they see a report on the vandalism board. Apologies for consolidating my responses in one post...I have a reputation for being a lazy sod and I must keep that alive :) Tiderolls 13:48, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
Addendum. Another admin has left a message on Albert20009's user talk so I will leave the warnings as they appear. I will keep an eye out and if the disruption resumes (under any username) I will take action. They may have stopped as a result of the warnings or they may simply be sleeping. In any event, I believe the pages are under enough scrutiny that similar disruption will be dealt with swiftly. Thanks again for the help you both have provided. Enjoy your weekend :) Tiderolls 14:07, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
Administrator functions
I wish I could be an administrator right now but I have to wait until January before I could request for adminship. Being an administrator separates you from everyone else but everybody is using Wikipedia. WAYNEOLAJUWON 20:13, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Be very careful of what you say--some people would argue that your very statement above would be a strong argument that you shouldn't be an admin. Many people still strongly believe/cling to the belief that admins aren't/shouldn't be measurably be "separate" from the rest of the users. Further, people may read your comment as implying that you want to be separate, special, of higher rank, leveled up, or what have you, and this is quite often frowned upon. Additionally, as I'm sure you must be aware by now (since I think you watch RfA), it is extremely difficult for someone like yourself to become an admin in the current RfA climate, given that your work here is so overwhelmingly vandal fighting. I'm not saying that this is the way it should be, but many regulars at RfA believe that unless you've done a lot of what they call the hard work of finding sources, improving text, and writing content, you shouldn't be an admin. As such without a lot more content work, I'm not sure that even by January you are likely to be "given the mop". And finally, if you are going to be given the mop as primarily a vandal fighter, people are going to closely scrutinize how you respond to objections or concerns about your vandal fighting; those users might find the responses on your talk page to be overly curt, unclear to a new user, or not AGF. One important part (I think, and I know others do too) of being an admin is to be able to communicate well with users who, though they are violating policy, are doing so with a sincere intention of improving the encyclopedia. Yes, we need to make sure they learn the policies, but we need make sure legitimately confused users are given enough clear direction so that they can at least try to learn how to work within or policies and guidelines. Qwyrxian (talk) 23:39, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not posting a strong argument. How come some users ended up being an administrator and end up being successful users like Tide rolls & company? It's obviously not easy to become an administrator and you have to be more responsible than ever. A: When a user is reported unless if you're a Huggling administrator: You must look at their contributions and see if their edit(s) is vandalism or not in order to block them. B: You must look at a page's history when somebody requests it for protection to see if it should be protected or not and C: You have to make sure the text that is put in an article that was tagged for speedy deletion or regular deletion such as PROD to make sure if it's an article that is pure vandalism, short article, etc. Being an administrator requires a lot of responsibility. I was fixing a typo. "Percy is most like there" isn't proper grammer because of the typo in "like". I changed it "likely", sorry about before I made a typo as I fixed it. Wasn't trying to be a vandal.

/* Notable flight attendants */
I do not see why you reverted my addition to the list of notable flight attendants on account of it not being constructive. David Holmes, the rapping flight attendant, was even featured on CBS news for his unique talent. I was adding to the collection of information that is Wikipedia, and if you believe that denying a person from contributing to the free encyclopedia that ANYONE can edit adds to that collection of information, your logic is flawed. With that said, this man, David Holmes, should be recognized for his talent that makes his stand out among most flight attendants. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.161.0.21 (talk) 04:55, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Ipswich.
Chantry is not "the first estate you come to from London". Not only does this not make sense, it is incorrect. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Allygillan (talk • contribs) 06:43, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
- In that case, locate a source (see WP:Reliable sources), cite it properly (see WP:Citations) and make the approproate change(s). Very simple. Do not comment in the article's mainspace. Tiderolls 06:46, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
Your lack of knowledge.
You know nothing about Ipswich or the area, clearly. As someone from Ipswich, this displeases me greatly, as you are able to control the page on my beloved home town from your ivory tower. And by 'ivory tower' I mean your mother's basement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Allygillan (talk • contribs) 06:48, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
- Basements are impractical where I live. However, I now see you are not serious about helping out here so I probably will not be responding to you further. Regards Tiderolls 06:52, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
Admittedly,
that was an unoriginal and fairly unfunny thing to say. I'm actually quite ashamed of myself. I have watched 6 hours of cricket and have drunk far too many beers for a sport in which I have nothing more than a fleeting interest in, so apologies for my outburst. But anyway, I do not know how I can cite a source proving that Chantry is not the "first council estate you reach after London" - Basildon, Chelmsford, Billericay and Colchester all have large 'estates' and are all very much on the way to Ipswich from London, I'm hoping you may be able to point me in the right direction. This matter is now irritating more than such a trivial point should.
Sorry for being a dick, I am a bored student and I hope you didn't take my comments too personally. I am new to Wikipedia and may have let my natural student reflex to annoy and offend everyone get the better of me.
Ally. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Allygillan (talk • contribs) 07:02, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
It is
possible that you may have gone to bed/work, depending on which end of the day you operate, or that I have been too much of an idiot to merit a response, but either way I would like to officially apologise for my words earlier. I am slightly embarrassed and feel a bit of a hypocrite as I have insulted someone who is clearly committed to the upkeep of a site that I regularly call "remarkable", I hope you can accept this apology and that you and the rest of the wikipedia team can continue to sustain this impressive site.
(As someone who you have not met, and I would imagine do not particularly like, I appreciate this may seem sarcastic but it really, really isn't (for once)). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Allygillan (talk • contribs) 07:13, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
- I'm still here...just pursuing other tasks at the moment. Since you're offering, I'll accept your apology. I wasn't put off by your remarks, so an apology is not required. I appreciate the gesture, though. Consider helping us out here (we always need volunteers)...when you've slept off the beers, of course. Tiderolls 07:23, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors wanted in Troy, Alabama
Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you're listed as a Wikipedian in Alabama. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at Troy University, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.
Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).
I know Alabama is a big state, but if you happen to live near Troy and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from Troy who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 16:18, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Declined speedy deletion
What can you do to a page when you tag it for speedy deletion and it's declined if you think it does meet the speedy deletion criteria? WAYNESLAM 22:36, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
- Is there any way for you to address the issue(s) that concern you about the article? "Fixing" the article comes before deletion. If you are of the opinion that deletion is the only option, read WP:Deletion process and Wikipedia talk:Deletion process. Other means to deletion are discussed there. Sorry I saw your message too late there, having just added commentry. I hope this is acceptable because I've allowed the report to stand, even though I vehemently dispute the allegations. Cheers, Yeah he is rather large (talk) 19:35, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
- I have no opinion on your commenting at that notice board. I'm inclined to believe your edits are not vandalism; I'll let a more experienced admin make that decision. I can tell you, though, that your behavior is problematic and could lead to difficulties for you. Be more careful, please. Tiderolls 19:39, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

- Indeed, the owner of the copyright can release the content for use on Wikipedia. That is why User:Logan left a message on your user talk detailing instructions on how to contact Wikipedia to give such a release. Even assuming good faith we cannot proceed on your word alone. I would touch on two points; even with the released copyrighted material, the company may not pass Wikipedia's standard for notability (see Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies)) and as the professed CEO you almost certainly will have difficulties overcoming Wikipedia's guideline on conflicts of interest (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest).
