Wisconsin Highway 78 addition

[edit]

I have some constructive feedback to offer on your addition to Wisconsin Highway 78.

  1. Most importantly, we write route description sections south-to-north or west-to-east to follow the direction of the mileposts. This entire section was written north-to-south, so it needs to be flipped around.
  2. Per MOS:HEAD, the section headings are rendered in sentence case on Wikipedia, meaning "Route description" and never "Route Description".
  3. The first time that a highway of a specific type is mentioned, it should have its designation spelled out in full followed by the abbreviation in parentheses. Afterwards, any additional highways of that type can be abbreviated on first mention.
  4. We provide conversions for measurements. You can use {{convert}} to simplify this.
  5. When linking to local communities, most of those articles would include ", Wisconsin" the name. Leaving it out links to a disambiguation page in many cases. You can pipe the link to customize the display: [[Merrimac, Wisconsin|Merrimac]] will link to "Merrimac, Wisconsin" but display as "Merrimac".
    1. The same concepts work on highway links. We should link to the specific state-detail article on US Highways instead of relying on the redirect from US 14 to the national-level U.S. Route 14.
  6. Last, but not least, we need to cite our sources for our content. What maps or other sources did you use to write this? I can help you to insert proper footnotes to the sources you used, but we need to know what they are to start.

The introduction paragraph was written in reverse. Also I want to source Google Maps. CyberTheTiger (talk) 15:28, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That whole section is written in the wrong order. It needs to be reversed so that the description starts at the Illinois state line and progresses northward. Until then, the tag in that section needs to remain. Imzadi 1979  16:53, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited U.S. Route 51 in Wisconsin, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Rock River and Expressway. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 18:04, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Musicians with Masks (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Those were all correct beforehand and should not have been changed to dashes. If you can read a construction and substitute the word "to" in place of the dash, then it's correct. "I-39" can't be read as "I to 39", but "east–west" can be read as "east to west", thus the former is a hyphen and the latter is a dash. There are a few exceptions to that general rule, but those didn't apply in the article. Compound adjectives like "two-lane" always use a hyphen, and so do compound words like "re-route", which can also be "reroute". I switched them all back. Deletion discussion about Goodman Pool

[edit]

Hello CyberTheTiger, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Goodman Pool, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Goodman Pool.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|TheTechnician27}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
