With the 2012 GP2 season now completed, Davide Valsecchi is the new champion ahead of Luiz Razia and Esteban Gutiérrez, while DAMS managed a clean sweep by taking the teams' championship from Lotus GP and Arden.

The race also marked a milestone for SuperNova Racing: they had already clinched the drivers' title in Curitiba, and today's result gave the British outfit the teams title too, as math denies second placed MP Manor any chance of filling the gap in tomorrow's Race 2.

Although the outcome of the drivers' championship will not be known until the final weekend of the season at Hockenheim, Lotus were able to celebrate winning the team championship ahead of time.

One weekend before the end of the season, the Prema Powerteam claimed an early title in the Formula 3 Euro Series teams' classification.
