Overview

Guidelines

[edit]

Gotcha Gotcha Games updated their terms and conditions as of October 8, 2024, enabling users to utilize provided assets within their games provided that they adhere to several key rules. Under the new terms, assets may be freely used in game projects, but redistributing them outside the RPG Maker environment is prohibited. Developers looking to monetize their games must comply with licensing agreements, including proper attribution and restrictions against standalone asset distribution. While users can modify assets, these changes must remain within the context of the game, and modified assets cannot be shared separately.[3]

Future prospects

[edit]

As of 2024, Gotcha Gotcha Games is continuing to develop the RPG Maker brand and its other creative platforms.[1][2] The company is currently developing Action Game Maker, set for release in 2025. This successor to Pixel Game Maker MV integrates the Godot Engine, enhancing accessibility and providing users with modern tools like tile map editors, dynamic lighting, and a richer 2D animation pipeline. It also bridges visual scripting with GDScript for advanced users, making it suitable for a wider range of game creators.[4]
