Amba Prasad is an Indian politician, lawyer, and social worker. She is a member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, representing the Barkagaon Assembly Constituency. She belongs to the Indian National Congress and currently serves as the National Secretary of the Indian National Congress and co-incharge of West Bengal. She is known for her leadership, dedication to public service, and advocacy for women's rights, education, and tribal welfare.

Early Life and Education

Amba Prasad was born into a politically active family in Jharkhand. Her father, Yogendra Sao, served as a minister in the Jharkhand government, and her mother, Nirmala Devi, was a former MLA. She completed her law degree from Vinoba Bhave University and later practiced law at the Ranchi High Court, specializing in issues related to land rights and social justice.

Entry into Politics

Amba's foray into politics came under unforeseen circumstances. While preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination, having successfully cleared the preliminary stage, she was compelled to shift her focus when her parents were imprisoned due to a political conspiracy. This crisis prompted her to enter politics to uphold her family's legacy and serve her community.

In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Amba contested from the Barkagaon Assembly Constituency and emerged victorious, becoming the youngest MLA in Jharkhand at the time.

Political Career

As a legislator, Amba has been vocal on issues such as land rights, women’s empowerment, tribal welfare, and access to education and healthcare in rural Jharkhand. She has played an active role in raising awareness about sustainable development and improving infrastructure in her constituency.
