Hadiza Galadanci
Hadiza Galadanci is a Nigerian Professor of Obstetrics and gynaecology at Bayero University, Kano.[1][2][3] She is the Director of the Africa Center of Excellence for Population Health and Policy, a World Bank-supported initiative.[4][5][6] Galadanci is recognized for her pioneering contributions to maternal health in Nigeria[7] and her role in advancing women's representation in clinical academia.[8][9] She is the first female obstetrician and professor trained in the Kano region of Nigeria[10][11] and has published over 100 academic articles[12]. She has also trained and mentored over 2,000 students[13], establishing a successful research network and contributing to global health initiatives such as AlignMNH[14][15][16][17].

Education and Background
Prof. Galadanci obtained her medical degree (MBBS) in 1987 at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in Nigeria.[18][19] With an impressive academic track record, she was awarded the Fellowship of West African College in 1998 from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital[20]. She then obtained an MSc degree in reproductive health and sexual health research (MSc RHSHR) from the University College London, UK and a Diploma from the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (LSTM&H), UK[21]. She has been a member of the Royal College of Surgeon (MRCOG) since 2002 and a Fellow of the Royal College (FRCOG) since 2014.[22] In addition, she obtained a Project Management Diploma from Galilee International Management Institute, Israel, in 2018.[23][24][25]
Work and Honors
Her work has earned numerous accolades, including the FIGO Women Award in 2018[26][27] and the Heroine of Health Award in 2023[28]. In 2024, she was named one of the 100 most influential people in health by TIME magazine[29][30].
