Hi there. Just to thank you for your recent very helpful edits to surf music. I have just put the songs back into inverted commas as that is what is at Wikipedia:Manual of Style (music)#Popular music, but apart from that minor point, I very much appreciate all you have done so far. However, I felt it was fair to say that I am still undertaking a clean-up after the recent merger and so some of the tidying up you have done or might do, could be wasted effort. The process may take some time as I am having difficulty substantiating some points from reliable sources. On the other hand, if you are happy to edit as the process progresses, then I have no problem with it and a second pair of eyes can only be a good thing. Thanks again.--SabreBD (talk) 07:04, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing me to that particule style guideline. I'll keep that in mind for future reference. Alanraywiki (talk) 13:58, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
Many thanks for the barnstar. It cheered up my day a lot.--SabreBD (talk) 20:45, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Alanraywiki, I actually worked on the design team for SONGs at Bechtel Norwalk, CA and have been inside the plant. I think I know more about it than you do. E-mail me at michael513@mac.com for more details! Please rethink your nonsense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mike B2 (talkcontribs) 04:49, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

You can discuss your edit at Talk:San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. Please review also WP:VERIFY. Alanraywiki (talk) 14:49, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

You wrote: I think you may want to revisit an edit you made at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. It restored unsourced trivia and a redlink. If you meant to do that, I established a section on the article talk page so we can discuss. Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 20:49, 5 October 2009 (UTC),

Thank you for noticing. I must have been asleep because I intended to delete, not restore that nonsense. Paul Studier (talk) 22:43, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

I figured it was an accident when I saw your WP experience. I'm going to strikethrough your user name on the article talk page. Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 22:46, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

David Laibson

In this edit you say that the citation does not mention David Laibson. In fact, towards the bottom of the article, there is this language: "The goal is to put the theories of such economists as Harvard University's David Laibson to work. "I was concerned it was window dressing, but they were truly interested in putting these ideas into practice," says Laibson, a paid member of the center's advisory board who has also studied how companies can increase 401(k) plan enrollment." I am discussing this editor's editing with them on unblock-en-l and noticed this. Fred Talk 13:00, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

My apologies. I went through that article twice and somehow missed it, but now I do see it. Thanks for pointing that out to me. Alanraywiki (talk) 14:24, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

AIC edits...

I'm not sure why the original edit, is being reverted. the 'original' falls in line with other NORTHEAST-10 colleges in terms of set up. EXAMPLE: ' NOTABLE ALUMNI' section. Why, it is being changed to that new non-sense is beyond me... IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE TO LIST NAMES IN A PARAGRAPH FORMAT... SAME WITH THE SECTION NAME... WHY 'NOTABLE PERSONS'... ALL OTHER COLLEGES HAVE 'NOTABLE ALUMNI' it seems that most of the changes are cosmetic and not based on content. JUST CHECK HOW OTHERE COLLEGE PAGES ARE SET UP... this change is arbitrary based on a personal taste, not content... (by they way, I personally added the history section the text and pic, the section that is unaffected... but I'm not happy about the changes that were being made to other sections they do not make sense)... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.76.234.100 (talk) 23:29, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Wikipedia has guidelines established by consensus. In this case, see Wikipedia:College and university article guidelines for the format of college and university articles. If you feel otherwise, and you obviously do, please discuss this on the article talk page. Alanraywiki (talk) 23:34, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Book of Mormon semi-protection

I have requested permanent semi-protection for Book of Mormon to keep our anonymous IP vandal from being able to edit there. (Taivo (talk) 05:59, 13 October 2009 (UTC))

AIC edit.

Please see the discussion page on American International College... User Inquietudeofcharacter is making changes to the page and claiming that just about everything in the old section is breaking Wiki Rules. So, the best thing is to delete everything. Please read the arguments and compare edits. The original version though not perfect is not flat out wrong, and the disruptive changes that are being made are only diminishing the content and straight forward set-up of the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.48.242.223 (talk) 23:03, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

edit on AIC...

WIki does have rules and one is that you can add a 'tag' stating that a section or a paragraph need to be augmented... not simply deleting the entire section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.48.242.223 (talk) 23:31, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

How to check IP adresses with Users?

Hey how can I check an IP adressess to see if a User is not logged in and possibly having sock puppets? Please let me know as soon as possible. House1090 (talk) 03:11, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

You may want to post a case at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations with your evidence why you suspect sockpuppetry for someone to investigate. Alanraywiki (talk) 04:38, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Youtube not a reliable source?

If a video of the commissioner saying what is in the article word for word isn't reliable, I don't know what is. Nicola.tesla.rowe (talk) 19:18, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

See WP:RS for more information regarding YouTube and reliable sources on Wikipedia. Alanraywiki (talk) 21:54, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
Absolutely no reference to Youtube or the like there. I'm not trying to be argumentative or anything, I just don't see anything that indicates that a direct quote from the head of the league would be an unacceptable form of "proof". It's more than the proof of the stadium's capacity or estimated completion period. Nicola.tesla.rowe (talk) 21:57, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
I have posted the question if this particular video can be considered a reliable source at the noticeboard here. Usually YouTube references are not considered reliable on Wikipedia. I'm leaving the video in until a consensus has been reached. Alanraywiki (talk) 23:49, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I meant to remove the material, not reintroduce it. Apologies, SpitfireTally-ho! 12:19, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

No problem. I could tell that was the intent. Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 15:27, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Crafton, CA

I reverted you because Redlands is not known like San Bernardino. Redlands is an SB suburb. Also SB is the county seat, population is 200K +, with day time population of about ~300K. Redlands population does not even reach 100K. Its like comparing Perris and Riverside, Carson and Long Beach, Baldwin Park and Los Angeles. Now if you have a better argument lets talk about it in the talk page, I really dont need any more drama, and I am not intrestead in enforcing this. House1090 (talk) 02:46, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

UP San Berdoo

Thanks for going over the Uptown San Bernadino Article. I did not have time to, I had to go pick up some paper for a project I'm doing. Thanks! House1090 (talk) 03:24, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

If you don't have time to do it right the first time, then wait until you have time. There is no rush on an Wikipedia article like that. The grammar and spelling on that article was pretty atrocious, as has been most of your writing. Slow down so others do not have to clean up after you. Alanraywiki (talk) 04:02, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
Its a new article, not much traffic, so I thought it would be fine for now. But if I plan to write a new article I will use a sandbox first. Dont worry I wont have more atrocious writing for you to clean up. At first I thought it was fine but I did not read it over, which I should of done in the first place before posting it, I was my fault. I will be more carefull. Thanks again. House1090 (talk) 04:46, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
Good call in your plan to use the sandbox first with new articles. It allows you to work out wording, formatting, etc. That's what it's there for and how I use it, too. Alanraywiki (talk) 04:57, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Stanford Provost Miller

Can you please provide a source for Provost Miller so we don't have a redlinked reference with no reference? Nefariousski (talk) 23:50, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

We can either add this reference for all of the provosts, or just remove the link like several of the other provosts so it won't show as a redlink. Do you have a preference? Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 23:55, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

Tech Inquiry

I saw your edit summary at the Trestles page that read as follows: (cur) (prev) 20:35, 19 January 2010 Alanraywiki (talk | contribs) (13,306 bytes) (Undid revision 338818726 by SanOSleuth (talk)revert per WP:ELNO #11) (undo), wherein the reference to WP:ELNO #11 was conveniently hyperlinked to that article. Could you share with me the method of such hyperlinking while writing in the edit summary box because, try as I might, I cannot accomplish the same. Thank you for your time and consideration of my request .--LexVacPac3 (talk) 22:54, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Sure, no problem. It is handled like an internal link in the article space. For example, if you type "see [[WP:ELNO]] #11" in the edit summary it would show up as "see WP:ELNO #11", linking to the policy. I find it helpful to link to policies when I am making edits, particularly reverting someone's edit, so they understand why I did it. Best of luck, Alanraywiki (talk) 02:51, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Thank you.--LexVacPac3 (talk) 21:26, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

3O

Hey, Could you take a look at Talk:Los Angeles metropolitan area#CSA and provide the third opinion please, we need one. I already put it in wiki's 3O but no one has replyed so could you take a look? Thanks House1090 (talk) 05:23, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the invitation, but WP:3O indicates that "If you have had dealings with the article or with the editors involved in the dispute which would bias your response, do not offer a third opinion on that dispute", so I will recuse myself. Frankly, these metropolitan area articles just look like a lot of duplicate material that can be found on other articles to me, so I personally do not see a lot of value in them. I'll pass. I'm sure someone will be by soon to offer a third opinion. Thanks and good luck, Alanraywiki (talk) 05:30, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
Oh okay yea I think I read that now that I remember. Its okay we will just have to wait, thanks anyway. House1090 (talk) 05:34, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

LA metropolitan area article

I will remove the urban areas outside of the LA metro. Since you and I both agree. If you change your mind or something let me know and I will revert my self. Or I wont do it, so please let me know as soon as possible, Thanks! House1090 (talk) 00:17, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

If the LA metro area is made up of only LA and Orange counties, then the urban area section should be removed. If the LA metro area also consists of some of Ventura, San Bernardino and Riverside counties, then the section can stay and the lead section should be revised so it does not state just the two counties. Alanraywiki (talk) 00:25, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Thats what I am saying, thanks I did not want to do anything without being sure. Thanks again. House1090 (talk) 00:28, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for bugging you so much but User:SoCal L.A. reverted me again, after I wrote in the edit summary that you agreed with me, I even provided a link here. I do not know what to do, should I revert him back contact and admin. or what? Mabey you can tell me what to do but I am tired of this I honestly am. I dont know wht else to do. House1090 (talk) 00:42, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Definitely do not revert him. Continue to take it to the talk page. I'm going to need to sign off Wikipedia until probably tomorrow. If I get a chance to look at it this evening I will. Good luck to both of you in reaching the right decision, Alanraywiki (talk) 00:47, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Okay but I have tried the talk page but he does not get it. I am running out of options here. House1090 (talk) 01:04, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
I am aware of how the OC, SB, RV counties urban areas do not relate to the LA MSA, but i thought it was clear that it refered to the CSA. My apologies if that was not clear. SoCal L.A. (talk) 01:08, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Your revert on Audi

Hallo Alanraywiki, e.g.: quote: ...a Iranian court determined that the Horch brand belonged to his former company.[3] unquote. There is somtehing wrong. I suggest talking about your revert on Audi discussion page instead of user discussion page! Atril (talk) 19:12, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

You added the sentence "Actually, the Audi brand name has been invented for ever by a grammar school pupil from Zwickau.". Alanraywiki (talk) 19:16, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
Okay, after re-reading the history I believe I understand now what you were saying. I will revert myself and reword that sentence. Alanraywiki (talk) 19:18, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks Alanraywiki for your response. There's no doubt about it, Audi today is a world top car maker (parentage signifys future). That is the reason why I wrote "Actually, Audi brand name has been invented for ever by a grammar school pupil from Zwickau." That's a matter of fact and not a rumor! E.g.: VW brand is associated with Wolfsburg, Mercedes or Porsche brands are associated with Stuttgart, BMW brand is associated with Munich and Horch or Audi brands are associated with Zwickau. Also the famous Auto Union Silver Arrows of the nineteenthirties have been developed and manufactured in the city of the romance composer Robert Schumann: Zwickau. I'm not a native English speaker, but it is a Canadian friend of mine. He confirmed me understanding in this sentence is pretty good. I think Audiwiki should be better prepared. There are some incorrect references too, e.g.[3], because there's no history behind the link. Some people of the world (especially in UK) they do not like discovering audi advertising instead of description history behind a reference link! The people, but also Audi administration, expect correct info from wikipedia. Could you agree? Atril (talk) 22:41, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

I understand why you removed the COI tag from Dana Point Concours d'Elegance‎‎, but I have a strong suspicion that User:PorkyPastrami is the same person. The chronology was: 23:44, the article's creator joined Wikipedia; a few minutes later, the article was created; at 00:18 I placed a COI notice on the creator's page; at 00:54, the account PorkyPastrami was created; at 00:58 PorkyPastrami went right to the article and started editing it; and PorkyPastrami has edited no other article. What do you think? —Largo Plazo (talk) 15:40, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

I have the same suspicions, but both the edits done as PorkyPastrami have been factual with no POV. As long as the edit is non-controversial I am okay with it, although technically it is recommended they post to the talk page first. It looks like the article is on both our watchlists so we can monitor any edits. Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 15:50, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

El Centro Metro Area

Should I put it in wiki 3O? House1090 (talk) 23:39, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

That would not apply in this case because three editors are already involved. Possibly WP:RFC. Alanraywiki (talk) 23:42, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
Yea, so will you do it or should I? House1090 (talk) 23:45, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

Pathetic much?

Do you just follow me around judging me from your ivory tower? I was reverting vandalism and you undo my work. I moved for a ban of the user only to find out they have a shared IP at my company. I requested an unblock and it was granted, you used this as some sort of information to revert edits because you're the king of Wikipedia, at least in your mind. I'd appreciate it if you simply left me alone. You lost the Youtube reliable source argument and you're bitter, I get it. Nicola.tesla.rowe (talk) 18:54, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm not clear on why you are upset. An editor, now-blocked User:Bikerchickforlife, added unsourced information here. The entry about Alex Rollison is not only unsourced but is also, perhaps coincidentally, the name of a USAirways employee. Because you have noted on your talk page that others at that company were editing and that you got caught up in a block, it appeared related. If it's not related, I apologize. However, the statement does need to be cited. Alanraywiki (talk) 19:07, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
Since I'm not the original author I can't say for certain that there are certifiable sources, however, there are certain things that may not be big enough to be sourced on the internet. Local newspapers, for example, honoring a specific person with a festival might not ever make it to the internet. My world isn't black and white, maybe you should take a look at yours. As I said before, you should cease your following of me, as it's prohibitive and against the spirit of Wikipedia Nicola.tesla.rowe (talk) 20:03, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Universities in SoCal

See: [1] there is states SLO is in southern California. House1090 (talk) 00:56, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

That's a tricky one. The second sentence of the Southern California article states that Southern California is south of the Tehachapi Mountains, and SLO is north of that latitude. San Luis Obispo is generally considered in the Central Coast of California, not So Cal. It certainly does not fall into Greater LA, IE, or Southern Border, again per the first paragraph of the Southern California article. Alanraywiki (talk) 01:29, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Oh yea, I see where you got it from. Also, Santa Barbara is included in SoCal, and its in the Central Coast. CalPoly SLO can be removed but I think so will UC Santa Barbara. House1090 (talk) 01:33, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
By the way, San Luis Obispo is identified as being in the Central Coast, not Southern California, by Cal Poly and by the city. Alanraywiki (talk) 02:05, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Yea I see it now, but do you know anything about Santa Barbara? House1090 (talk) 03:33, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi, can you take a look at User:House1090/Sandbox/Cal State San Bernardino and tell me/give me suggestions on what more to add before I make that public (add it to the article). Thanks, I would really appreciate it, House1090 (talk) 05:39, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

I will look at it when I can. The most important thing to start with is to study WP:UNIGUIDE to get the right structure and content. Alanraywiki (talk) 06:18, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Alright thanks, I'll keep an eye out here. House1090 (talk) 02:33, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

What else do you think the CSUSB article needs? House1090 (talk) 00:52, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

Just glancing at it quickly, references need to be found wherever there is a citation needed tag or the content should be removed. Personally, I would remove everything under alumni except the link to the list of alumni article. Look again at WP:UNIGUIDE for where some of the sections go. For example, I would put the radio station under Student life like a newspaper. All the references need to be formatted. There are a couple of external links in the body of the article that need to be converted to references. There is probably much more, but that's a starting point. Alanraywiki (talk) 05:19, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for starting a dialogue on the talk page. The disputed information appears to come from a reliable source, so the reference should not be removed. You may want to add additional references that can provide fuller information about the article subject, Cal Poly Pomona. Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 06:12, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Climate Section for Stephens City, Virginia

Perhaps you can help....I am wanting to add a climate section for Stephens City, Virginia and am using Washington, DC's section as an example of how it should look. Stephens City is about 70 miles west of DC, so Stephens City has the same weather, seasons, and the like as DC, so I am highly considering using some of the wording. The problem I am running into already is that might come across as using someone else's text (from the DC page) on the Stephens City page. I currently have the DC climate section copied on a sandbox page on my userspace. What should I do to make it unique to Stephens City or should they all sound the same? - NeutralHomerTalk05:40, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

I'm not familiar with that area, but 70 miles makes a huge difference in weather where I live. Copying the format is fine, but I would think the sources used for the content should be for Stephens City itself rather than Washington DC. Good luck, Alanraywiki (talk) 05:50, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
I will definitely get different sources, just was worried on the content. Thanks! :) - NeutralHomerTalk05:51, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Someone in Daytona Beach has entirely too much time on his/her hands. :) --PMDrive1061 (talk) 18:45, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Indeed . . . thanks for your help! Alanraywiki (talk) 20:26, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Template:Automobile classification

I'm hoping for further contributions to the discussion about the proposed deletion of the above template here [[2]] any constructive comments would be very welcome. Mighty Antar (talk) 00:42, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Oops

You were right. The Provo Library is relevant to BYU. My mistake, thanks for catching it.

Cheers,

No problem. Welcome to Wikipedia and I hope you enjoy editing here. Alanraywiki (talk) 04:34, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

CSUSB

Impacted means it has higher admission standards: [3]. House1090 (talk) 21:59, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

But not higher than all other CSU campuses, just higher than the CSU minimum per that reference. Most, if not all, campuses are impacted because of the state budget, so they all have higher standards this year. It is better to leave that phrase off, particularly when comparisons like that smack of WP:BOOSTERISM. Alanraywiki (talk) 22:06, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
That is not boosterism, and well since it uses higher standards than the minimal, the reader shoould know. House1090 (talk) 03:44, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Provo

Hey! I know this is a bit of a random question, but I noticed some Provo photos on your user page. Are you LDS? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.202.205.242 (talk) 11:07, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes. Are you? I hope you don't mind the light-hearted edit I made on the talk page about Cal State Long Beach being called the flagship university by a city newspaper. Apparently there are at least four flagship universities in the CSU! Alanraywiki (talk) 14:18, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Yup! :) Do you mind if I ask your ward? And no worries about the flagship thing. I had no idea it was going to be so controversial. I really do wish the SLO/Pomona articles could become more stable, but who knows if that's in the cards. By the way, I noticed a couple of your edits on the BYU page. Did you attend? I was a visiting student there a while back.
On the left column of this page is a place to "e-mail this user". I'd rather answer there. By the way, you may want to consider setting up an account on Wikipedia. You are an active editor and it has certain benefits such as watchlists, ability to create articles, etc. (See WP:WHY). It's not a requirement, but sometimes makes discussions on talk pages a little clearer, too. Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 14:46, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Nice...

Nice grab with the LaVell Edwards pic...impressive! —Eustress talk 01:11, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

cal poly issues..thanks

thank you for finding the exact date of when reed said the comment in regards to cal poly. i think that your correction will stop the current edit war. thank youJaviern (talk) 05:21, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

The minutes were dated, but the chancellor apparently only said it once 12 years ago. It may even be possible to watch the conference here, but it looks like the file is no longer on the server . . . but it had a version for those with a 28.8 dial up! Alanraywiki (talk) 05:31, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Huntington Beach IS a track of homes

The pier is a feature of the city yes, but not the main feature by any means. As a matter of fact that area of the "City" data is reserved for overall photos of the city, not to highlight one of its features. I will go up tomorrow and take a more "Full Featured photo of HB, in my plane for Wiki as I can :)" WPPilot (talk) 06:34, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

If you like you can stand on the pier and wave when I take the photo too! WPPilot (talk) 06:37, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, I look forward to the new picture. You have taken some nice photos of Southern California from a vantage point unavailable to most of us. Alanraywiki (talk) 13:12, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Reverted Userpage

Hello 72Dino/Archive 4, You left a message on my talk page:

California

The information I removed was politically motivated and you know it. Not only that, but such information can not be proven factual because no head count of illegals immigrants (not captured an processed by the government) can ever be accurately counted. The source used, that I removed, was an article from the Washington Post, which can hardly be called a credible source.

See Wikipedia:NPOV
Please refer to my comments at Talk:California. Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 14:55, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the barnstar, I am just getting started! WPPilot (talk) 15:31, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

What about CPP contribution to Wikipedia?

We are using Wikipedia as a class project, and students are trying to bring up certain articles to FA status. Should these be acknowledged here? Scholarchanter (talk) 00:20, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

The Wikipedia:School and university projects page may be helpful to you in your class project. No need to post anything about Cal Poly Pomona here. Good luck, Alanraywiki (talk) 01:07, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Actually I now see you are already on that page. Nothing needs to be acknowledged here, but best of luck on your project. Alanraywiki (talk) 01:19, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks yet again

I tell you, some people are simply too dense to get the message, as is the case with our weird little editor in Florida. Gonna file a CU against the last IP as well as this named account. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 01:13, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Strange behavior by the editor, but I appreciate the work you do as an admin. It's a shame we have to spend time with activity like this instead of adding content to the project. Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 01:18, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 19:52, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

CSUSB (2)

Hi, I see you reverted me on the CSUSB article because the Palm Desert campus is in Riverside County, but the category would be appropriate on the PD campus article, not the CSUSB one, since the article is about the San Bernardino campus, with a short introduction on its satellite campus. Thoughts? House1090 (talk) 07:38, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

The CSUSB article is about the entire university, which includes the Palm Desert campus. Therefore, both geographical categories should be included. Alanraywiki (talk) 12:55, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Okay, makes sense. House1090 (talk) 16:48, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

California Religion Stats

The reason I had removed the Mormon religion stat was because they were different than other stats in the article. The article said, to the effect, "California has 500,000 mormons...California has 700,000 Mormons". I'm not saying it's not borne about by references, just that those don't agree with other stats in the article. It's likely that the lead stats that report 500,000 Mormons and 10 million Catholics are inaccurate, or at least outdated Purplebackpack89 15:21, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

That's a valid point. The first paragraph contains information from 2000 and the data later on are from 2009, so it can be confusing. I think we should include the more current information. The question is how to include the current information on the various denominations in the section . . . remove the first paragraph, leave the first paragraph in because it states the year 2000, just update the individual paragraphs: Thoughts? Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 15:32, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
I think we should remove the data that's more than four or five years old. We should try to find updated stats for Catholics, Jews, etc., at which time we can replace the opening paragraph with more accurate information. I'll try to work on it later in the day/week, at which time I'll post updated stats either here or at the California talk page. Purplebackpack89 15:57, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I agree with you on that approach. I will also try to do so. I'm hoping that an organization like the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life or something similar may have some updated stats. Alanraywiki (talk) 16:01, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Purplebackpack, I updated the information at the article with 2008 data. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 19:31, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

I may be missing something, but why were many of the notable alumni deleted? They are all alumni and I dont see why they shouldnt be listed. Thanks for the explanation! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wgrabow (talkcontribs) 21:19, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

There are a couple of reasons why some alumni should not be listed. First, they should be notable and meet the requirements of WP:NLIST and WP:BIO. Second, even if they are notable, there needs to be a reference that they are alumni either on their own article or on this article. The ones listed here, which were removed earlier by another editor, did not meet those requirements. If an article is written about them and there are references that they attended the university, it would be fine to keep them on the list. I hope this helps! Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 22:02, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Feel like weighing in? Looks like we're not getting anywhere, and a third opinion might help matters. I think I'm trying to follow the guidelines, of course, but a particular editor disagrees. If I'm wrong then I'm willing to admit it, but I don't feel like any opposing arguments are being made that would teach me such a lesson. Feel free to let me know if that's an unreasonable assertion. Your thoughts would be much appreciated. --inquietudeofcharacter (talk) 03:34, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

I tried to nudge the editor to discuss the edit with you on the talk page, and to the editor's credit they did so. I now have read the AAUP report, particularly the conclusions section, and it appears to support your version of the content. I have added a comment to the article talk page. Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 04:34, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
