Website

[edit]

This is the first time I ever posted something as a comment on a wiki, so apologies for any errors. Hopefully someone who does know the workings of wiki will pick up my question. I very suspicious of the website listed on Michael Scheuer's profile to the right of the screen; non-intervention.com. I had a look at the site and despite the enormous amount of suggestions it is actually Mr.Scheuer's personal website, there is no actual claim of it. The domain registry shows an anonymous registrant (http://www.whois.com/whois/non-intervention.com. 213.93.126.44 (talk) 18:19, 16 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Goldberg

[edit]

The list of ad hominems by Goldberg really doesn't improve this article at all and only raises BLP problems. If we must have this list there for some reason we should also have the response to Goldberg that was deleted by Blue Tie. Either we keep both or we delete both; otherwise it's pretty clear that the article is pushing a specific POV. This should be an encyclopedia entry, not a hatchet job. csloat (talk) 23:40, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

recently removed quotation

[edit]

I'm not sure it needs to be in the article but it's a well documented quotation and it was controversial at the time; see this google search. csloat (talk) 23:21, 20 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Danger

[edit]

Wikipedia is dangerously close to becoming an advocate, instead of a knowledge base. The "Note" at the end of the Scheuer page is advocacy, and has no place in a public database of history. The editors of Wikipedia have to decide whether they are a knowledge base, or a lobby. You cannot be both.

This is the note

NOTE: It would also be useful for readers interested in Mr. Scheuer's views and insights to read "Inside the Jihad" by Omar Nasiri, a Muslim and former penetrator of Al Qaeda's training camps. Mr. Scheuer wrote an introduction to the book, and Mr. Nasiri's account offers a very human voice to this complex and contentious issue.

I have not seen this in any Wikipedia page before. The readers should be allowed to read up what they want, and not be "Suggested" to read one book. Scheuer was a contentious figure in the CIA (they all were, it is the nature of intelligence workers), he is welcome to his opinion, but one should be deeply suspicious of anyone who writes incognito, and anyone who blames any "Lobby" for his or her failings or misfortune. I could "Suggest" any number of books written by men just as senior as Scheuer who did not agree with him, and who are sharply critical of his actions. That is not my role, and they are welcome to their opinions, which are, just like Scheuer's book, just opinions of ex-officials seeking to justify themselves. Yes, that note was a bit odd. I've rewritten it. Since Scheuer wrote the introduction I think it's appropriate to inform readers of that fact in this article. Sean.hoyland - talk 16:54, 13 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Advocacy of killing Trump's opponents

[edit]

This advocacy was commented on in multiple news sources (for example here, here, here, and here. After that post, he had apparently only one additional post (congratulating Putin for support of white South Africans). Since about July 22, the website non-intervention has been offline, though Scheuer is still listed as the owner of the domain. He has not tweeted since then either, and there doesn't seem to be any information about what might have happened. Given the nature of the post it's quite possible that it was taken down by law enforcement. 2605:E000:909B:A400:C418:F615:D56D:7521 (talk) 00:12, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

New website domain

[edit]

Scheuer says his website was taken down by GoDaddy for being "spammy and abusive". He discusses it on the John Fredericks radio program. His new domain http://www.non-intervention2.com/ should probably be included in the article somewhere. Onrandom (talk) 21:27, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnic background

[edit]

Is there any information available about Scheuer’s own ethnic background? I know he’s a virulent antisemite, but if I _hadn’t_ known that about him, and I saw his picture, I’d guess that he was likely Jewish himself based on his appearance and surname. He wouldn’t be the first person from a Jewish background to become a leading antisemite (see: Ron Unz, Bobby Fischer, Harold von Braunhut, etc.) If he really is ethnically Jewish, the article should probably point that out given the bigoted nature of his recent work. 2604:2D80:6984:3800:0:0:0:A04F (talk) 16:45, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Either way, he's a bigot and a complete fruitloop. 2A0A:EF40:2EC:E201:61F0:4E28:ACF1:3DC3 (talk) 23:19, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
