Gyan Prakash

Historian of modern India and a Princeton University professor. Prakash is a member of the Subaltern Studies group. Prakash received is BA in history from the University of Delhi in 1973, his MA in history from Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1975, and his PhD in history from University of Pennsylvania in 1984.

He is the author of Bonded Histories: Genealogies of Labor Servitude in Colonial India (1990), and Another Reason: Science and the Imagination of Modern India (1999). He also the editor of After Colonialism: Imperial Histories and Postcolonial Displacements (1995).
