Stanley Kubrick's psychological horror film The Shining has had a massive impact on popular culture since its inception in 1980 across different mediums, such as television, film, video games, and music. Quotes from the movie like "Here's Johnny!" and "REDRUM" have been often referenced in different ways across the mediums mentioned earlier; along with being referenced casually in many English-speaking countries. "Here's Johnny!" is more closely recognized by a wider audience due to the numerous parodies that often appear in the mediums previously mentioned.[citation needed]
