discussions about user and functionality is being sabotaged.
Users need to be able to express their inabilities and experiences with downgrades. It's Impossible conducting efficient business (any) activities using android. Basic functions/ functionalities are missing. Constantly changing the interface is destroying peoples abilities including those most vulnerable with disabilities including intellectual. 101.119.172.217 (talk) 23:09, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
All of the issues you mention apply to almost all OS', none are limited to Android: Downgrades are not possible or are not possible for any length of time with any OS, you eventually have to upgrade for security reasons. Businesses do conduct efficient activities using Android. Basic functions/functionalities are available. Constantly changing the interface is an issue with other OS', e.g. Windows 7/2008 > 8/2012 >10/2016 has had massive UI changes, some mobile vendors add their own customised UIs, they have the freedom to do this, as also sometimes occurs with vendors of other operating systems. 12think (talk) 13:12, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not done: I assume you are referring to the sentence "[...] most Android devices ship with a substantial amount of proprietary software, such as Google Mobile Services, which includes applications such as Google Play Store, Google Search, and Google Play Services – a software layer that provides APIs for the integration with Google-provided services [...]". In this case, "layer" refers to an abstraction layer. Tollens (talk) 08:56, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This article may be semi-protected, but can someone PLEASE sort this paragraph out?
"Impact of phones around the traffic
In 2020, researcher Simon Weckert performed an experience by carrying dozen of google-connected smartphones, carried all into a handcart, in a German city, showing that the simple fact pedestrian holding their phone could impact the information shown on Google's maps services, such as generating traffic jam."
Hi, I removed the entire paragraph about simulating a traffic jam in Google maps, as Google maps runs on iPhones too, it is not an Android issue. And it is already mentioned in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Maps#Criticism_and_controversies 12think (talk) 07:19, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to update the lead paragraph to better reflect its everyday use. Android is developed as an operating system that targets laptop and desktop form factors as well as mobile, Android supports multi-window, multi-display, multi-instance, and picture-in-picture, Keyboards, mice, & trackpads, billions of bluetooth devices, ARM and x86 architectures, full free form windows and resizing. It is shipped and used in 10s of millions of Chromebooks. So it has not been solely a Mobile operating system for many years, it is an Operating system, iOS and iPadOS are solely Mobile operating systems. The articles Mobile operating system and Operating system will need to be updated soonish too.--12think (talk) 08:13, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Most of the sentences are grammatically wrong, hard to read or even totally incomprehensible. The main idea presented is also redundant to paragraphs further above. I would suggest deleting the whole paragraph. Blausonorisch (talk) 19:21, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
