2025 Formula 2 Championship
The 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship is a planned motor racing championship for Formula 2 cars sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The championship is the fifty-ninth season of Formula 2 racing and the ninth season run under the FIA Formula 2 Championship moniker. It is an open-wheel racing category serving as the second tier of formula racing in the FIA Global Pathway. The category is scheduled to be run in support of selected rounds of the 2025 Formula One World Championship. As the championship is a spec series, all teams and drivers competing in the championship will run the same car, the Dallara F2 2024.
Invicta Racing will enter the championship as the reigning Teams' Champions, having secured their title at the final race of the 2024 season in Abu Dhabi.
Entries
The following teams are scheduled to compete in the 2025 Formula 2 Championship. As the championship is a spec series, all teams will compete with an identical Dallara F2 2024 chassis with a V6 turbo engine developed by Mecachrome. All teams will compete with tyres supplied by Pirelli.

Driver changes
Reigning Teams' Champion Invicta Racing will have an all-new driver lineup as reigning Drivers' Champion Gabriel Bortoleto graduates to Formula One with Stake F1 Team and Kush Maini moves to DAMS.[2][3] Invicta recruited 2024 FIA Formula 3 champion Leonardo Fornaroli, who will make the full-time step up to Formula 2 after having already raced in the 2024 finale with Rodin Motorsport, and Roman Staněk, who joins the team for his third season in the championship after ending his 2024 campaign with Trident early.[4][5]
Red Bull junior Arvid Lindblad will join Campos Racing, graduating from FIA Formula 3 after coming fourth in the championship with Prema Racing.[6]
MP Motorsport saw both Franco Colapinto and Dennis Hauger leave the team during the 2024 season, with Colapinto competing in Formula One with Williams Racing from the round at Monza onwards and Hauger moving to Indy NXT with Andretti Global ahead of the round at Abu Dhabi.[7][8] The team re-signed the two drivers that substituted for Colapinto and Hauger in 2024 for the full 2025 season: Red Bull junior Oliver Goethe, who came seventh in FIA F3 with Campos Racing, and Richard Verschoor, who will return to the team he competed with in 2021 to embark on his fifth season in the championship.[9][10]
Hitech Pulse Eight promoted Williams Driver Academy driver Luke Browning from their FIA F3 outfit with whom he finished third in 2024 for his full-time graduation to the championship after he had already competed for ART Grand Prix in the final three rounds of 2024.[11]
Prema Racing will have an all-new driver lineup as both Oliver Bearman and Andrea Kimi Antonelli will graduate to Formula One with Haas F1 Team and Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team respectively.[12][13] The team promoted FIA F3 runner-up Gabriele Minì to its F2 outfit, where the Italian already deputized for Bearman for one round in 2024.[14]
DAMS Lucas Oil signed Kush Maini, who leaves Invicta Racing after coming 13th in his second F2 season, to replace Juan Manuel Correa, who had already left the team ahead of the final two rounds of the 2024 season.[3]
Rodin Motorsport will see the departure of Zane Maloney as he graduates to Formula E with Lola Yamaha ABT.[15] Christian Mansell, who finished fifth in FIA F3 in 2024 with ART Grand Prix and debuted in F2 with Trident during the final three rounds of 2024, will replace him.[16]
AIX Racing driver Taylor Barnard left the championship after ten rounds of the 2024 season and moved to Formula E to race with NEOM McLaren Formula E Team.[17]
Trident saw both Verschoor and Staněk leave the team during the 2024 season, with Verschoor joining MP Motorsport ahead of his full-time switch in 2025 and Staněk sitting out the rest of the season before joining Invicta Racing in 2025.[10][5] The team signed two FIA F3 graduates in Max Esterson, who came 21st with Jenzer Motorsport and already deputized for Verschoor during the final two rounds of 2024, and Sami Meguetounif, who will make his F2 debut after finishing eighth with Trident's FIA F3 outfit.[18][19]
Race calendar
The championship is scheduled to visit the same 14 destinations as the year before, with only one major change: the Albert Park Circuit is set to be the season opener for the first time in Formula 2 history, a consequence of Formula One's Australian Grand Prix holding the opening round of their season for the first time since 2019.

Results and standings
Scoring system
Points will be awarded to the top eight classified finishers in the sprint race, and to the top ten classified finishers in the feature race. The pole-sitter in the feature race will also receive two points, and one point will be given to the driver who set the fastest lap in both the feature and sprint races, provided that driver finished inside the top ten. If the driver who set the fastest lap is classified outside the top ten, the point will be given to the driver who set the fastest lap of those inside the top ten. No extra points will be awarded to the pole-sitter in the sprint race as the grid for it will be set by reversing the top ten qualifiers.
