Carbombya
A fictional nation from the Transformers cartoon universe, fully known as: The Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Carbombya. Ruled by Supreme Military Dictator, King of Kings and Present For Life, Abdul Fakkadi, the country is rich in particularly fine oil, and it's full name and the title of it's ruler makes clear that it's not a place you want to go on vacation, as even cruise ships passing by the coast will be fired upon.
As if all this didn't make it obvious, Carbombya is designed as a pastiche of Middle Eastern tensions that existed at the time - better watch out for those Arabs, or they might "Car bomb ya." Fakkadi's name is intended to invoke that of Libyan dictator Muammar al-Qaddafi, and everyone in the country is always swearing on the lives of their mother's camels, and so forth. However, this did not go over well with cast member Casey Kasem, himself of Arabian descent, who was to provide Teletraan I's voice in the episode which primarily featured Carbombya, "Thief in the Night." He demanded that the portrayl of Arabians be changed, and when it was not, he quit the show, necessitating the replacement of Teletraan I with Teletraan II.
Carbombya is occasionally misspelled as "Carbombia" (an error that recently appeared in the "Transformers Legends" anthology book), and in the script for the episode in which it first appeared, "Five Faces of Darkness," it was spelled "Karbomia," in a less-overt pun. Fakkadi's name is also often misspelled, generally as "Fakaddi," but the aforementioned "Legends" went as far afield as "Faghadi."
