NorthStar SailGP Team, formerly known as Canada SailGP Team, is a professional sailing team led by double Olympic Gold medalist Giles Scott, competing in the global Rolex SailGP championship. Representing Canada and embodying the spirit of the "North Star," the team seeks to inspire excellence, innovation, and unity on the water and beyond.

History

The team was established in 2022, initially debuting in SailGP as the Canada SailGP Team. Under the leadership of skipper Phil Robertson, the team quickly made its mark on the circuit, showcasing strong performances and determination, with two podium finishes in its first two events. During Season 3, the team celebrated a major milestone by securing a remarkable victory at the Christchurch event, solidifying its status as a competitive force in the league.

The team also brought SailGP to Canadian shores with an electrifying event in Halifax during season 4, which was recognized as the favorite racecourse of the season by the athletes. This landmark occasion not only energized local fans but also underscored the team's dedication to making sailing a prominent and accessible sport across Canada. More than 50,000 people showed up during the event, showing the immense enthusiasm and support for world-class sailing in the region.

In September 2024, the team was acquired by Canadian biotech entrepreneur Dr Greg Bailey, and rebranded as Northstar SailGP Team to reflect its commitment to a broader mission, symbolized by the guiding light of the North Star.
