Nicholas Ashe Bateman is an artist^[1], filmmaker^[2] and the founder of the award-winning visual effects, design and animation company ‘MAERE STUDIOS^[3]^[4].’ As a writer/director, his acclaimed debut feature film - the microbudget ‘The Wanting Mare’ was released in 2021^[5]^[6]^[7]^[8]^[9]^[10]. He directed and animated the music video for Father John Misty's 'Funny Girl.'^[11] As the visual effects supervisor for Maere Studios^[3], he has supervised and designed for over 25 feature films in the past years^[12], including A24’s ‘The Green Knight,^[13]^[14]’ Disney’s ‘Hocus Pocus 2,^[15]’ ‘Peter Pan & Wendy,^[16]’ M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Knock at the Cabin^[17]’ and Ava Duvernay’s ‘Origin.’ ^[18]^[3]

Bateman was the creative design supervisor^[19] and vfx supervisor^[19] for the Disney+ animated short "An Almost Christmas Story" ^[20], as well as overseeing the work by Maere Studios^[19]. "An Almost Christmas Story" was a co-production between Maere Studios, Disney Branded Television, and Alfonso Cuarón’s Esperanto films, directed by David Lowery.^[19] ^[21]^[22]^[23]. Other upcoming projects include A24’s ‘Y2k’^[24] and ‘Mother Mary'^[25] ^[2].
