June 2006 updates

[edit]

1) This location does not appear to be recognized by the census or US post office, so I'm listing it as unincorporated. It currently appears to be indistinguishable from the other unincorporated suburban areas near Killeen, TX. It has a Killeen zip code.

2) The "mayor" Charlie Hold was listed as "unofficial mayor" in 1962 in a magazinearticle. Since it's not incorporated, and Charlie would be 48 years older than he was at the time of the article, I'm removing the mayor entry.

3) "Population" is pretty meaningless with no census designation to indicate what geographical area is covered by the name. Handbook of Texas online lists it as 22 in 1990 and 2000, instead of the 301 previously listed. so I'm removing that too.

4) dingdongtx.org website is no longer active. - Removed.

Removing "Oftentimes, it is misreported that the town had early associate with the Hostess Company's snack, Ding Dongs, as well as named after a common slang for the male genitalia."

No source for info. Why include info known to be incorrect? Horrid grammar.
