Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Delhi
Points of interest related to Delhi on Wikipedia: History – Category – WikiProject – Deletions – Stubs – To-do |
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Delhi. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Delhi|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Delhi. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to India.

I removed the PROD tag from this article since it was already PRODed once. Page was also speedy deleted under WP:G11 twice before, and subject appears to be non-notable.
The editor who added the PROD tag provided the following rationale:
Clearly fails WP:GNG/WP:NBIO. Quick run-down of the five existing refs: Ref 1 is openly sponsored content, ref 2 is a Q&A/interview with the subject, ref 3 is a post by the subject, ref 4 is is a Q&A/interview with the subject (accompanied by a short bio/introduction), and ref 5 is a press release, presumably by the subject or one of their companies (although it's not transparently indicated that it's a PR on the website, the text, which can be found on a few other "news" websites, follows a PR template for this kind of "news", see, e.g., basically the same release for another person and another one). All other sources I see are also either primary (interviews etc.) or non-independent. The subject seems to have received some awards/honors but none of them are notable afaics (like the kind of award/honor mentioned in ref 2) (proposed by Felida97).

- Delete - as noted elsewhere, unreliable press releases and infomercials have taken over previously responsible media there, so sourcing about business in India just verifies existence, but does not constitute significant coverage. Bearian (talk) 18:51, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Delete, it's about a businessman who both exists and does his job, with no indication of this meeting notability per WP:BIO or WP:GNG. Wikishovel (talk) 19:58, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Delete: Per the nomination. Taabii (talk) 20:23, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: There's also an existing draft for this subject, Draft:Sanjay Sehgal, which has been declined a few times by now. While there's more text (the text/sentences currently in the article is/are a subset of the text/sentences in the draft) and a few other refs in the draft, it doesn't contain anything that changes my assessment. Felida97 (talk) 22:30, 18 December 2024 (UTC)

- Keep: GNG is definitely met. Even though a lot of his fame comes from his wife, who's an internet sensation for her luxury lifestyle and appearance on a popular reality show and Netflix series, he's made a name for himself too. WP:SIGCOV have been identified from sources like Economic Times, Motor India Online india.com, DNAIndia, Hauterfly, Times Now, Hindustan Times.--— MimsMENTOR talk 15:14, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: This nominator appears to be a WP:SPA, unfamiliar to criteria's. Initiated a new AfD for Shalini Passi just days after the previous AfD was closed, reopening the discussion only 4 days later. The user's Afd history reflects a pattern of similar behaviour.— MimsMENTOR talk 15:27, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- I'm leaning procedural keep, despite being poorly sourced. AfD was badly abused in c. 2007-2014, when someone would nominate an article hours after a closed nomination. Then they would canvas their friends. Bearian (talk) 22:02, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Mark me as weak keep. Bearian (talk) 15:45, 20 December 2024 (UTC)

Previously, the article relied on a single source, but I have now added several new sources to improve its credibility. The subject clearly meets the criteria outlined in WP:ENT.
