Anna Maria Chiuri (born October 3, 1968, in San Candido, Bolzano, Italy) is an Italian mezzo-soprano internationally recognized for her powerful voice and compelling stage presence. She has performed in leading opera houses and collaborated with renowned conductors, specializing in roles from the operatic repertoire of Verdi, Wagner, Strauss, and Puccini.[1]

Early Life and Education

Chiuri was born in San Candido, Bolzano, on October 3, 1968.[2] She studied at the Conservatorio Arrigo Boito in Parma under soprano Jenny Anvelt and further refined her technique with the celebrated tenor Franco Corelli.[3]

Career

Anna Maria Chiuri has performed at prestigious opera houses such as: - Teatro alla Scala (Milan) – Don Carlo and Un Ballo in Maschera.[4] - Arena di Verona – Aida.[5] - Salzburg Festival – Luigi Nono's Intolleranza 1960.[6] - Opéra Royal de Wallonie – Aida and Un Ballo in Maschera.[7] - National Centre for the Performing Arts (Beijing) – Un Ballo in Maschera.

Her notable roles include: - Amneris in Aida (Verdi) - Eboli in Don Carlo (Verdi) - Azucena in Il Trovatore (Verdi) - Herodias in Salome (Strauss)

She has collaborated with conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Gianandrea Noseda, and Fabio Luisi.[8]

Concert Performances

Chiuri has also been active in concerts and recitals: - Performed Prokofiev's Alexander Nevsky at the Stresa Festival.[9] - Mahler's Second Symphony in Turin under Gianandrea Noseda.[10] - International tours at venues such as Carnegie Hall and Edinburgh Festival.[11]

Awards and Recognitions

- Received the *Premio Abbiati* in 2012 for her portrayal of Herodias in Salome.[12]
