The ICC Women's Champions Trophy is an quadrennial international cricket tournament organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) contested by national women's teams. The first edition of the tournament will take place in 2027 in Sri Lanka, with matches being played in the WT20I format.[1]
History
The ICC Women's Champions Trophy was announced on 8 March 2021, on International Women's Day. It was announced by the ICC in its events list for the 2024/31 cycle.[2] The competition will include six teams.[3][2] On 26 July 2022, Sri Lanka was announced as the first hosts of this tournament, as long as they qualify.[4]
Background
Refreshed Visual Identity
On 13 November 2024, The ICC launched a brand-new visual identity for both the men’s and women’s Champions Trophy with an entertaining and distinctive edge, with the release of the ICC Champions Trophy brand launch video.[5] The newly created visual identity is a digital-first vibrant expression, with an unconventional typographic logo which sets the tone for the look – bold and loud, confident and fun, a thrilling two-week competition where every match counts. The brand-new women’s event provided with a great opportunity for a refreshed vibrant and fun visual identity to represent the events over the next few years.[6]
Format
Six teams will play each other in a Round Robin format, with the top two playing in the Final. It will comprise 16 games.
