Bret Wagner is an American engineer, education advocate, and candidate for the Madison Metropolitan School District Board of Education. He combines engineering expertise with classroom experience to address educational challenges through data-driven solutions.

Early Life and Education

Wagner earned his Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Career

Wagner began his career as a chemical engineer before transitioning to education through Teach For America, where he taught high school science in the Houston Independent School District. During his teaching tenure, he achieved significant improvements in student pass rates and founded Science for America to support STEM teachers.

Currently, Wagner leads digital and financial transformation projects at Huron Consulting Group, where he applies systems thinking to complex organizational challenges.[1]

Education Advocacy

Wagner announced his candidacy for Seat 3 on the Madison Metropolitan School District Board of Education in December 2024.[2]

His campaign platform emphasizes:

Personal Life

Wagner lives in Madison, Wisconsin with his wife and two children who attend Madison Metropolitan School District schools. He serves on various community organizations and advocates for public education.
