War of Independence?

This article repeatedly mentions "Israel's War of Independence". What gibberish is that? Who did Israel become "independent" from? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.15.90.8 (talk) 04:16, 14 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Israel defended its new status as an independent country from the neighbouring countries attacking it. It did not fight for independence in the same manner as the US did against the British.

In Israel this war is call the War of Independence. In most of the rest of the world it is called the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. Amandashusse (talk) 00:56, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
