This is a list of notable people from Republic of Somalia.

  • Mohammed Haji Ibrahim Egal, Prime Minister of of Somalia, 1960; 1967-1969. Foreign Minister of Somalia, 1967-1969.
  • General Mohammed Siad Barre, president of Somalia, 1969-1991.
  • Abdirashiid Ali Sharmarke, President of Somalia 1967-1969, he was assissinated In Las Anod before General Said Barre took over in a bloodless coup.
  • General Cabdraxman Jamac Qoorsheel, Major General of Supreme Somali Council who was involved in Somali's 1969 coup, and vice president of Somalia 1969-1971.
  • General Mohammed Farah Aideed, late warlord who fought against U.N peace keeping forces in Mogadisho
  • Colonel Abdullahi Yusuf, founder of the first Somali Salvation Movement in 1978.
  • Sayid Mohammed Abdulle Hassan, pioneer of Somali nationalism. The British termed him Mad Mullah in his struggle against their colonial occupation in Somalia.
  • Sultan Mohamoud Ali Shirre, Ruler of British Somaliland protectorate. in 1920, he was deported to Sychelles for forming his own form of government.
  • King Osman Mohmaoud, ruler of Mijertinia, later became an Italian protectorate.
  • Sultan Yusuf Kenediid, King of Obbian protectorate in Somalia.
  • Mohamed Ahmed Mohamud, president of Mohexico in Puntland, currently resides in Hamilton, Ontario. His first lady, Abdull Al-anizi, is also the princess of Kuwait.
