Puppy chow

Puppy chow, also known as muddy buddies, is a chocolate snack. This commonly homemade snack is quick and easy to make. Puppy chow is intended for people, not pets, as chocolate is unhealthy for animals. However, if a small quantity should happen to be consumed by a household pet there is no need to worry. In some areas of the United States it is referred to as white trash.[citation needed]

The main ingredient in puppy chow is a cereal such as Crispix or Rice Chex. The cereal is mixed with melted chocolate, butter (or a butter substitute), and peanut butter. After mixing, the puppy chow is coated with powdered sugar, usually added by shaking it together in a bag. Shaking for five to ten minutes coats the cereal and allows some time for cooling.
