The Whigs

The Whigs are a garage rock band from Athens, Georgia, comprising of Parker Gispert, Hank Sullivant, and Julian Dorio. In the summer of 2005 the band recorded their first album Give 'Em All A Big Fat Lip and released it independently. In July 2006, The Whigs signed with Dave Matthews' record label ATO Records. March 2007, Julian Dorio was awarded an Esky award for "Best Drummer" by Esquire magazine[1].

Departure of Hank Sullivant

Hank Sullivant departed the Whigs in late 2006 to record an album as Kuroma[2] and to tour extensively with MGMT [3]. The Whigs will carry on with two additional members who have not yet been announced; the current substitute bassist is Sam Gunn of Iron Hero.

Current tour

The newly formed lineup is set to begin a brief tour in March 2007 with supporting acts Wax Fang and The Features. They also played at SXSW.
