Wethersfield High School was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School in 1996.

Athletics

Wethersfield High School excels at a variety of sports including soccer and baseball.

Wethersfield's ice hockey team won the Connecticut Division III State Championships in 2007, for the first time in the team's 33 year history. The win is the first state championship for Coach Dennis Tulimieri, who has been head coach of the Eagles for 21 years, and assistant coach Bryan Healy, who's senior year resulted in the team's first trip to the championship, losing 8-7 in overtime to Immaculate High School in 1986 at the Hartford Civic Center.

Theater program

The school's theater program generally produces two plays per academic year, a non-musical theatrical production in the fall season, and a musical in the spring. Recently, Wethersfield has performed productions of Little Shop of Horrors, Godspell, and West Side Story. Fall productions have included a collection of stories by Kurt Vonnegut and a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Wethersfield is currently working on the creation of a full time drama department within the school.
