Something might be worth saying about the genre confusion. The comparison to Pink Floyd is somewhat misleading, but for somewhat hard to define reasons---certainly musically LPD could reasonably be called "psychadelic" at most points in their career, but their general subject matter, circle of acquaintances and collaborators, and fan base, is more in tune with neofolk, industrial, and occasionally goth than with psychadelic music. --Delirium 21:25, Jun 13, 2005 (UTC)

Pardon me, but where is Chemical Playschool 1 and 2 in the discography? Isn't that supposed to be their first release? Am I incorrent?

This page needs a lot of work

Could someone specify the discography (what are full lengths, what are demos, compilations, ect)? It badly needs it. --- What you all are talking about is hopeless, that band had so many changes and so many releases, that many people have tried to make a comprehensive discography and biography in vain. It would take ages to write it all up, it might be better to put in links to the bits and peaces of information that are scattered all over the internet..... who dares to add, the Traumstadt series was released by Mirrordot in 1988 and licensed to Jah music in Germany and to staalplaat in Amsterdam, as well as reissues of premonition, basilisk, chemical playschool 1/2 and chemical playschool 3+4; four days was originally a limited tape release of one copy for a collector named henk, who traded this unique tape with Phil Knight for original vinyl albums of lard free ( was very funny as edward and phil were obsessive record collectors at the time, and edward played a trick on phil pretending to be the trader who demanded a copy of narrow escapes first album in trade for the Lard free LPS. Narrow Escape was the unknown average blues band that niels van hoorn played in before joining the dots. later henk gave permission to an official release on cd of four days, which was released in 1995 on the dots own label terminal kaleidoscope.

In 1988 the line-up consisted of edward , phil, jason, barry white, patrick paganini, gaham whitehead. after the extremely successful tour for any day now, patrick, jason , barry and graham left the band and edward and phil were left over to see if they continue or give up. Thus they recorded the Golden Age and invited nils van hoorn into the band (their studio host) and toured as a threepiece in autumn 1988 in belgium. Next bob pistoor was invited for the tour in 1989. after recording two albums with the band bob died of cancer and left a huge hole behind. while bob was with the band they recorded a crushed velvet apocalypse and the maria dimension. (my favorite dots period)Bob had played in a local dutch psychedelic band called yaptah in the late 60ies and early 70ies, and was actually the guitarist who was invited to join pink floyd, when the PF managment thought that syd barret was becoming too unreliable. (yaptah had opened for pink floyd in the netherlands). I read the syd barret biography at the time in which this incident was mentioned and bob grinned as he admitted to me that it was him who had turned down playing with pink floyd back then. The band tried to deal with his loss while and by recording shadow weaver and malachai after touring the maria dimension in europe and america. for touring the maria dimension the band invited a local guitarist to step in for bob, his name was martijn de kleer.
