Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2 (燃えろ!熱血リズム魂 押忍!闘え!応援団2, Moero! Nekketsu Rizumu-damashii Osu! Tatakae! Ōendan Tsū, lit. "Burn! Hot-Blooded Rhythm Soul: Hey! Fight! Cheer Squad 2") is a rhythm video game developed by iNiS and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS handheld video game console.[1] It is the third game to use its gameplay, and is the sequel to Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan. The game has 4-player wireless play,[2] supports the Nintendo DS Rumble Pak accessory, and was released in Japan on May 17, 2007.[3]
Storyline
Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii follows more or less the storyline from the original Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan. Players act as the leader of a three-person cheerleading squad. Whenever someone is stressed out or backed into a corner, all they need to do is shout "Ouendan!" (Japanese for "Cheer Squad"). Then, the Ouendan appear (usually out of a place like a closet or are there already eating ramen) and use cheering and dance to help the that someone through their troubles.
The original characters (signified by wearing their long Gakuran jackets) are still there, cheering people on. However, a new set of rivals appear that challenge the original Ouendan in skill and cheering (the "new" Ouendan are signified by their blue military-style outfits.) All storylines are basically seperated and unrelated (however characters from one event might appear in another event.) While gameplay progresses, though, the two Ouendan join together and cheer on all the characters from the events, and all around the world to save the world.
Gameplay
As in the original game, this sequel is played almost entirely via touch screen. The player acts as the Ouendan, who cheer on the people that are in turmoil and shout out for them (original "Black" Ouendan control the west side of that world, the new "Blue" Ouendan control the east side.) During actual gameplay, the player must tap colored circles at the precise time in order to cheer the character through his or her problems. On the top screen displays the character overcoming his dilemna. If the player's cheering is good, then the meter at the top of the screen stays in the yellow, and the character is seen triumphing over whatever it is holding them back. If the player's cheering is bad, then the meter on the top of the screen falls to the red and the character struggles. If his or her cheering is bad enough, the meter will hit the bottom and he or she has failed the mission. Then, the player can either try again, quit to do something else, or review the last 5 seconds of gameplay up to where he or she lost.
Characters
The following characters need help from the Ouendan:
- A fresh university graduate, previously a high-school student from Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, who is going to a job interview. (Zenryoku Shonen)
- A weak-hearted Sumo-wrestler who tries to find real strength (Okuru Kotoba)
- Two schoolgirls who must work to save their choir from being shut down (Real Life Real Heart)
- A young genius doctor who moves to a small island to help its residents, but ends up confronted with many non-medical problems to solve (POP STAR)
- A female ex-pro wrestler who must impress her mother-in law, the owner of a Japanese inn (Go my way)

- An uninspired romance novelist who has to come up with a best-selling story within a day of the deadline (BANG! BANG! Bakansu!)
- A young woman who strives to follow in her late ice-skating sister's footsteps. (Believe) As in Elite Beat Agents and the original Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, this is one of the only moments in which the Ouendan break away from their quirky behavior for a more serious performance, whereas the usual whistles are now replaced by bells and chimes.
- A builder who is wooing a girl must resist the urge to transform into a werewolf whenever he sees an object shaped like the full moon (Kibun Jojo)
- A young boy, son of the Matsuri man from Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, who tries to overcome his bed wetting tendencies (Bambina)
- Three middle-aged women who must save their beloved idol JIN2 from a kidnapper. (Music Hour)
- Three engineers who build a robot to defeat a giant cat (Meowzilla from Elite Beat Agents) that is terrorizing the city. (Zoku)
- The world, the start of a 2-part ending in which the sun has stopped activity and plummeted the earth into another ice age, and all the characters from the original stories join together to stay alive. (COUNTDOWN) During the 2nd part, everyone cheers and the two Ouendan squads join together to give the sun its energy back. (Sekai wa Sore o Ai to Yobunda ze)
Bonus tracks:
- A toy monkey and a tin soldier that embark upon a long journey to reunite with their owner (Monkey magic)
- A shy boy, who, with the aid of his two friends, tries to win the heart of a classmate before she moves away (Glamorous Sky)
