Carvahall
Carvahall is a fictional village in Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Trilogy. It is most notable for being the home to Eragon.
Geography
Carvahall is located in Palancar Valley, next to The Spine mountains, in the north-east part of The Empire, in Alagaësia. It sits on the bank of the Anora River, not far from another town, Therinsford. The village is small enough that the residents are unable to create many of the items needed in everyday life and rely upon nomadic traders for many of their small amenities. Another important part of the settlement's economy relies on trappers that stop in Carvahall for supplies and to sell their wares.
The villiage is home to roughly three-hundred. [1] Most of the inhabitants are farmers with some traders and crafters. It is small enough that the residents are unable to create many of the items needed in everyday life and rely upon nomadic traders for many of their small amenities. It is the home to Eragon, as well as Brom, two Dragon Riders.
Events in the Inheritance Trilogy
After the events of Eragon, The Ra'zac return to Carvahall to collect Roran, Eragon's cousin, for information on the whereabouts of Eragon. Along with the Ra'zac, King Galbatorix sends a small group of soldiers to the town. Roran takes refuge on the edge of The Spine while the soldiers cause a disruption in the village. After hearing the news of a death in Carvahall, Roran returns to his town and is joined by some prominent residents to start a retaliation. Garrow's son takes the villagers into battle causing the unexpecting soldiers to retreat, along with The Ra'zac. Showing his prowess in battle, Roran is given the title "Stronghammer" and the duty to defend Carvahall. The town is eventually forced to abandon their homes in search of support from Surda. After the villagers leave on their journey to find the Varden, the village is burned by soldiers of the Empire.
