Tina & Muh G-Lo

Christopher Burns, born in Belfast, February 17, 1989, studies at St.Malachy's College, where he met his now-close friend Gerard McLaughlin, born in Belfast, December 18, 1988. From the outset, the two didn't always get along very well but in 2005 that all changed. When Carlos Brown approached them on 14 March, 2006 and offered them modelling contracts as Olsen twin lookalikes.

Chris studies Maths, Physics and French A-Level, while Gerard studies Geography, Maths and Spanish. They work hard all week at school but play a lot harder at the weekends after a gruelling day of photo shoots and catwalks. Don't be put off by their glamorous image, it doesn't cost very much to get styled-out in the attire of this stylish duo. In fact, their sunglasses cost only £15 from river island, and their vibrant jackets a mere £40 from Topshop.

She would have rather been with her current choice Brian, who is also of this normal human race. They love each other and always will.

College Essay

I was born with both a handicap and a head start. Although I have severe learning disabilities and a pronounced stutter, I have been blessed with the ability and determination to confront and conquer my challenges. These factors have greatly influenced my life, but not for the worse. In fact, my disabilities have shaped me into the man I am today, and through confronting these obstacles, they have given me an advantage in life. I've never known what it's like not to stutter. Stuttering is something that very few understand; even speech language pathologists cannot pinpoint its exact causes. While some disabilities are not readily apparent, stuttering is impossible to hide, and equally hard to ignore. Every word is a confrontation between my mind and my tongue; the very word "stutter" is maliciously ironic in its difficult pronunciation. As an early stutterer, even something as routine as being asked my name filled me with dread and anxiety. I worried not about my ability to articulate, but rather that I would be perceived as "retarded" or "slow" because of the way I spoke. I am frequently frustrated by my speech impediment, especially when others become impatient and occasionally even rude. When I was younger I would allow people to mock, interrupt, and tease me. With age, I have learned to respect myself more, and if someone teases or interrupts me, I explain to them that it simply takes me a little longer to get my words out, but they are no less important. With my difficulties, I always admired the poise, fluency and confidence of actors. From a young age, I always wanted to perform on stage, but thought that "real actors" did not stutter. This changed when I became a founding member of Our Time Theatre, an artistic home for people who stutter. At my theatre group, teenagers create entirely original performance art (including plays, songs and dance) while sharing common goals struggles and triumphs. In our playbills we warn half-jokingly that the performance will take between two and ten hours depending on the actors' fluency that day. However, our audience does not mind. We prove that it is not how you communicate, but rather what you communicate that matters. While my disabilities have defined me, they have also challenged me, necessitating determination and hard work to achieve any objective, social or academic. Rather than avoid or downplay my difficulties, I have chosen to confront them. When I was fifteen I enrolled in classes to become an Emergency Medical Technician, a long time dream of mine. Unfortunately, I soon discovered that no assistance was offered for students with learning difficulties. I had some problems with comprehension, but mainly my dyslexia and learning disability made it extremely difficult for me to study for and later read the test. Nevertheless, I decided that my learning disability would never prevent me from achieving my goals; it might slow me, but never stop me. I studied endlessly and on my fourth attempt, I managed to become a full-fledged member of the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and I now regularly ride and assist others in need. My belief about disabilities is that it is often a person's own self-image, as much as his handicap, that holds the person back. Two years ago, a speech pathologist offered me a device that could cure me of my stutter. My reply was a simple "no." I explained that my stutter defines who I am and that I would not be the same without it. I know myself to be a seventeen-year-old, who loves to write music, act, help others in need, stutters, and perseveres despite the difficult challenges. The challenges that I've faced have put me outside of what some would term "the norm." However, this has given me the opportunity to achieve abnormal greatness. Understanding what it means to work hard and how it feels to achieve seemingly insurmountable goals, I look forward to using the abilities afforded to me by my disability for the challenges and experiences that await me in college.

Modernism and experimentation encouraged the re-examination of every aspect of existence, from commerce to philosophy, with the goal of finding what was "holding back" progress and replacing it with new and better ways of achieving the same results. Effectually the modernist movement argued that the new realities of the industrial age was permanent and impending. Also that people should adapt their outlook on the world and accept that new was good and the truth was beautiful. Our literary inheritance includes the craft of character and place description, foreshadowing, symbol, mood, rhythm and pacing, story craft and plot; these are also apparent in two modern nonfiction classics: Joan Didion's "Slouching Toward Bethlehem" and Tom Wolfe's "The Right Stuff." The most directly useful techniques come from the realists: John Steinbeck, Harper Lee, Mark Twain, Ernest Hemingway, Edith Wharton, F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Antillanité

       == Background ==

From the early 1960s, a new way of envisaging French West Indian identity began to be articulated by a number of Martinican thinkers, which, in contrast to Négritude's stress on the retention of African cultural forms in the Caribbean, dwelt rather on the creation, out of a multiplicity of constituent elements, of a specifically West Indian cultural configuration to which, in time, the name "Antillanité" came to be given. It seems to have been René Ménil, a former collaborator of Aimé Césaire one of the principal champions of the Négritude movement, who, in an article entitled "Problèmes d'une culture antillaise" which first clearly formulated the idea of a West Indian specificity (spécificité antillaise) that would enjoy such success in the years that followed. French West Indian culture, according to Ménil, is: "neither African nor Chinese, nor Indian, nor even French, but ultimately West Indian. Our culture is West Indian since, in the course of history, it has brought together and combined in an original syncretism all these elements derived from the four corners of the earth, without being any one of those elements in particular."1

Theoretical Principles

Originally intended as a counter to the doctrine of Négritude, and its stress on an African rather than Caribbean identity, Antillanité was positively received by a number of prominent Martinican intellectuals, in particular the Groupe de Recherches de l'Institut Martiniquais d'Etudes headed by Édouard Glissant, which published the results of its discussions on Carribean identity in the short-lived journal Acoma (1971-73). Like its predecessor, Négritude, Antillanité is, at its base, an assertion of the difference in the face of the encroachments of the same. The whole of Glissant's theoretical work may be seen as a sustained polemic, conducted in the name of "le Divers," (the different) against the claims of the universal, to which a succession of derogatory epithets are attached in a more or less routine fashion. For Glissant, "the preoccupation with the universal is the alienated reverse side of the uniquely western pretension to exercise universal control"2, and it therefore follows that proponents of Antillanité must adopt a "firm opposition to any ideology of universal culture."3 Where Antillanité differs most markedly from Négritude is in its conception of the constitution of the different. For Négritude, the different was monolithic (essentially African in character; however, in the view of Glissant, the different is, itself, diverse, complex, and heterogeneous, made up of a multiplicity of relations held in place by a complex process of attraction and repulsion. Thus, it could be said that while Négritude looked inwards, to African heritage, for its models and values Antillanité looked both inwards, and outwards, towards the Caribbean and Meso-America as a whole, in its quest for self-invention from which proponents conceived identity as an archipelago of signifiers, none of which enjoys primacy over the others and whose unity lies not in the fact of possessing a single source but, rather, in the complex amalgamation of these myriad forces which themselves in relation to each other. One of the major advances made by Antillanité is that it has, in large measure, shed the regressive, matrocentric orientation common to both assimilationism and Négritude.

Piaggio Porter Van

Piaggio Porter

  The Piaggio Porter is a microvan which means it is smaller

and more basic than typical UK vans. It has a history that is connected with the Vespa Moped manufacturers and for a number of years manufactured microvans for Daihatsu. This is link is still aparent with the latter lending tecjnical expertise and drive trains. Thus the model was renamed from the Daihatsu Hijet to the Piaggio Porter. the vehicles are identical. The engine/ powerplant range is 1300 cc petrol, 1400 diesel, and electric version and a proposed LPG version. Model variants include Basic vans, MPV six seaters, dropsides, tippers and chassis cabs.

Their popularity grows in inner cities due to crowded UK roads and with councils and gardeners where their small size makes them ideal ground work vehicles.
