Thee More Shallows are a San Francisco-based experimental indie rock band formed in 2001. The three-piece group consists of song-writer Dee Kesler, Chavo Fraser and Jason Gonzales. The key elements of their sound usually consist of soft, whispered vocals against a backdrop of finger-picked guitar and synthesized beats. It has sometimes been refered to as slowcore or sadcore music. [1]
Kesler and Gonzales are also in Ral Partha Vogelbacher, and Kesler co-produced and played trumpet on "If Found" from Sinombre's debut album Curves of Sirens.
History
Their debut album, A History of Sport Fishing achieved a level of critical success and, after touring the US and UK to promote the album, they returned to the studio and spent two solid years working on their follow up, More Deep Cuts, which was released in 2004 in the UK and 2005 in the US. A UK-only EP called Cuts Plus Two followed in 2005, and the Monkey vs. Shark E.P. in 2006.
In 2007 they signed to the anticon. label, and in April they released their third studio album, Book of Bad Breaks.
