Ko Chang is the 2nd largest island in Thailand and is located just 300 kilometers away from Bangkok, near the Cambodian border in Eastern Thailand. It is a mountainous island with a waterfall in the middle, and is part of a National Park system.

You can get there by taking a bus, car, or flight to Trat (Laem Ngop) and then by taking a ferry to the island.

The main beaches are White Sands Beach (Hat Sai Khao), Klong Phrao, Kai Bae and Hat Ta Nam (Lonely Beach).

Southeast Thailand has two seasons, a dry periord from November to may and a wet season from June to October. Temperatures are coolest from November to December with daily maximums averaging around 30C. Just before the wet season this can rise to the mid thirties. There's a hospital, a few banks and atm machines, a post office, restaraunts, bars, and hotels on th eisland. You can go snorkeling, rent motorocycles, kayaks, boats, or bicycles, get massages, go for an elephant safari, and take diving lessons, cooking lessons, as well as other activities on the island.

In 1992, the National Park Service recorded 29 different species of mammal on Ko Chang, including the Stump-Tailed Macaque, Barking Deer, Wild Pig, Javan Mongoose, and Silvered Langur; seventy four bird species, including the Nightjar, Pacific Swallow, Yellow Vented Bulbul, and the Oriental Pied Hornbill; 42 different amphibians and reptiles, including the Python, Rat Snake, King Cobra, Malayan Mud Turtles, Monitor Lizards, and the Gecko.

There is a waterfall at Klong Plu near Klong Prao in a jungle setting. It costs 200 B to get into the national park to see it.
