--Playbig 23:07, 5 June 2007 (UTC)== Joe Zimka, Soccer Goalkeeper ==
Joe Zimka, Soccer Goalkeeper Joe Zimka, 6'4" and 215lbs is 19 years old and was born on June 18, 1987 in Chicago Illinois USA. Joe is a soccer goal keeper and Visual Communications major at Northern Illinois University (NIU). What makes Joe different than most goalkeepers is that "as a sophmore" he owns 2 NCAA "all time" records for D-1 goalkeepers. Joe broke the rcords for both "goals against average" (GAA)and "save percentage" (S%). The first, GAA, was previously held by John Putna of Indiana University for almost 30 years(1978), his GAA was..026, having only allowed 3 goals in 15 games for the season..Zimka broke Putnas record at the end of the fall 2006 season with a GAA of .021. The second record for S% was previously held by Tally Hall of San Diego State, he had a S% of .889. Last season, fall of 2006 Joe broke Hall's record finishing with a save percentage of .955. In addition to these two NCAA all time records, Zimka practically rewrote the NIU goalkeeping records in his first season as a starter. At NIU he holds the records for GAA (.021, most shutouts in a season (11),most consecutive shutouts(7),and the highest save percentage(.955). Zimka grew up playing for the Chicago Sockers a nationally ranked youth club in the Chicago suburb of Palatine, Il, USA.Off for the summer break at NIU, Zimka is currently playing for the Chicago Fire Premier, the youth development arm of the MLS team Chicago Fire. Zimka plans summer and aspires to play professionally in Europe after completing studies at NIU. Sources: (www.niuhuskies.com) (www.ncaasports.com) (www.ncaa.org)

Heinrich Felix Merckel
MERICKEL FAMILY MIGRATION AND NAME HISTORY
The first of this family to come to America, arrived in the year 1710.
They came as refugees from the German Palatine. Their trek to the New
World had led them by way of Holland and England.
The name was originally spelled Merkel of Merckel and pronounced in
German as "Mare-kil". The Palatines settled among, and intermarried with,
the Dutch in Ulster County, New York. Here they soon were using the
prevailing language which was Holland Dutch. ( At Kingston church
preaching was in Dutch until 1809).
The reasons behind the flight of our ancestors from the Palatine
regions of Western Germany are given in the story set forth in the "Van
Kocherthal Records", written in 1931 by Rev. Herman F. Vesper of St.
John's Lutheran Church. Canajoharie, New York.
In 1673, twenty five years after the "Thirty Year War" ended in 1648,
Louis XIV of France began his marauding expeditions for the purpose of
exterminating the Protestant heretics. Destructive raids laid waste to
the Palatine countryside. This ruthless pillage continued until 1688 when
the French King himself entered the land "to make it a wilderness" as he
declared.
The villages, towns and farms of the Rhine regions were pillaged and
burned, and their inhabitants tortured, ravished or slain. Few escaped
the country. Those who survived were spared further horrors when in 1705,
England, Holland, Sweden, and Prussia intervened and threatened reprisals
unless this carnage ceased. The way of Spanish Succession followed
(1701-1713) but it touched only lightly on the already devastated country.
Added to the horrors of the war, there came further to harass the
unfortunate Palatines the unusually severe winters of 1703 and 1709.
Vineyards and orchards were blasted by the cold. Birds froze on the wing,
fires failed to warm the shivering populace. Also, there came
ecclesiastical regulations that made still more unbearable the life of
these "poor, protestant, Palatines."
Their only salvation lay in migrating to other lands. The first group
of 41 men, women and children left for England by way of Holland in 1708.
They were led by the Rev. Joshua Von Kocherthal. A Lutheran minister,
whose wife and three children were among the refugees. In London, they
petitioned Queen Anne for permission to sail to one of the British
Colonies in America. Hearing of their extreme poverty the good Queen
granted them each a shilling a day towards their sustenance until a
decision was reached.
England desired to expand her frontiers in the New World, so
transportation for "these honest and laborious Palatines" was arranged on
the British ship "Globe". A special act of naturalization made them
"denizens of the Kingdom". It is perhaps for reasons of gratitude that
some of their immediate descendants, in the days of the American
Revolution, seemed to have Tories and British sympathies, even to the
extent of moving to Canada.
It was just 88 years after the voyage of the Mayflower that this first
group of Palatines set sail. They landed 60 miles up the Hudson River and
built a town they called "Neuberg", now called Newburgh. New York. Queen
Anne supplied them with agricultural implements and foodstuffs for one
year. In exchange, the Palatines were to supply lumber for the Royal Navy.
A year later, when pastor Von Kocherthal returned to England for
additional aid, he found 3000 refugees there. They were living in tents
on the Black Heath of London. The queen acceded to his wishes that they
too be sent to America to join the others. This time a whole flotilla of
vessels was needed. They sailed from London in the month of January,
1710. Among the ships was the "Globe", making it's second crossing with
Palatine refugees.

EFM Academy
EFM Academy is a non-profit study association at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Maastricht University, Maastricht, The Netherlands. It was formed as a vereniging under Dutch law in 2002 in a merger of EFM Alfa and EFM Imperator, two study associations that focused on Dutch and international students of the faculty respectively. EFM Academy is part of FAME Cooperation (former EFM), an umbrella organization that consists of EFM Academy and four other study associations: 3MA, FS Focus, IES Network, and Vectum. Within FAME Cooperation the associations’ target groups are separated in order to avoid competition. EFM Academy focuses on all bachelor students of the subjects International Business and Economics who have not chosen a special study track or major yet. Effectively, most students become member of EFM Academy in the beginning of their studies and stay in the association for two or three semesters, before their membership is transferred to a study association specialized on their major or study track.
Mission and goals
EFM Academy’s mission statement reads as follows: “EFM Academy aims to provide maximized added value for the students at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Maastricht University in various aspects of their life in close cooperation with the Faculty and other organisations.”.[1]
EFM Academy tries to achieve its mission by serving the students with a number of events, activities and services throughout the year. A main focus of the organisation lays in its ability to integrate students in the beginning of their studies, making it easier to get acquainted with university life and studying. It is also important for EFM Academy to give an opportunity to its active members, who can learn teamwork and organizational skills in organizing the events and services of EFM Academy.
Membership
General Membership
General members of EFM Academy attain reductions on all admittance fees of events of EFM Academy and other FAME Cooperation associations, as well as a discount of 14% on book prices in the FAME Cooperation Bookstore, which is a collaboration between EFM Academy and Selexyz selling educational reading materials. In recent years, EFM Academy attracted over 90% of all first-year students studying International Business or Economics to become member of the association. In the fall semester the amount of general members is ranging usually between 1100 and 1300 students, while in spring semester, when most second-year students enter their major tracks, this number drops to 700 to 800 students. [2]
Active Membership
Active members of EFM Academy are responsible for organizing all events and services of EFM Academy. Working as an active member is voluntary and not paid. An average of 40 active members is organized in committees that specialize on certain activities. Each committee has its own chair person and a responsible board member is also attending the weekly committee meetings. These two persons are responsible for leading the committee. The list of committees consists of the following (as of June 2007): Academic Committee, Social Activities Committee, Magazine Committee, Foreign Trip Committee, and Conference Committee. Other committees can be set up by the board as the need arises. In the past there have also been an IT Committee, an Accounting Committee, a Marketing/PR Committee, and a Gala Committee. The Academic Committee has been formed in a merger of the Education and the Career Committee. [3]
In order to increase social networking among its active members EFM Academy offers active member activities. These active member activities take place three to four times a year and are free of charge. In addition, a yearly active member weekend is organised in the fall semester.
The Board
The association is lead by an executive board of six. The board carries responsibility for all operations. Board members are elected on biannual General Member Assemblies – usually for a period of one year – and are bound to the association by contract. Their tasks are described in the association’s domestic regulations. The board meets weekly, but its board members are obliged to work for at least 20 hours per week in the office of EFM Academy. Board meetings are chaired by the President, with each board member having an equally weighted vote. In case of a tie the President’s vote is counted twice. [4]
Each board member is specialized on different fields. The positions are: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Academic Activities Coordinator, and Social Activities Coordinator.
President
The President of EFM Academy is the main representative of the association and has to keep contact with the university, advisory board and the other study associations within FAME Cooperation. Tasks include calling and chairing meetings, active member management and strategic planning.
Vice President
The Vice President is responsible for sponsors, alumni and other external affairs. Furthermore the Vice President should be able to replace the president if necessary.
Secretary
The Secretary keeps contact with General and Active Members, communicates with external parties and is responsible for the FAME Cooperation database. Furthermore the Secretary is responsible for the “Accent” magazine.
Treasurer
The Treasurer holds financial responsibility over the association. His tasks include financial forecasting and preparation of budgets as well as bookkeeping and reporting.
Academic Activities Coordinator
The Academic Activities Coordinator is responsible for the organization of study- and career-related activities.
Social Activities Coordinator
The Social Activities Coordinator is responsible for organizing active member activities, the foreign trip and the Craze parties.

Johnathon Joe Brown: The man behind the thimble
Johnathon J. Brown was born in the rustique outback of southern northern easterly Queensland, Australia. He was born like a fat, ugly, wailing little brat- or so his mother used to paraphrase between her drunken ramblings. Brown was rather pale, and was bullied by many of his negro friends and their all white parents. The postman was negro however, and sparked many rumours that most of the neighborhood gangstas were his offspring.
Johnathon Brown likes Pokemon. Twas his favourite pasttime. To 'poke-his-mum'
His unusual sexual preferences illiterated and befowled most of his lesbain girlfriends which quote "already had a pussy and they don't need another one" Brown's fetishes are as the following:
1. Carrots
2. Old women. Really old women. Yikes.
3. Buttons
And probably his most infamous fetish that sparked media controversy
4. Thimbles
Yes it was when Johnathon Joe Brown made his first ever appearance on the Price is Right, when the media went into utter uproar over Brown's sexual intimacy with his mother's thimble.
A thimble.
No I did not misspell "vagina" and type "thimble" instead.
Brown claimed it was naturally tasty, and that buttons were far worse to have sexual intercourse with.
Is he right? Is he a mistaken man and that we should be all screwing thimbles?
Tune in next week for the final episode of "The PRICE is RIGHT!!!!" *applause*
Southern Hemisphere Forestry
Southern Hemisphere forestry is the subject of increasing focus of investment and development interest. The topic is the focus of a dedicated web site [www.southem.com], e-newsletter [SOUTHEM Online] and publications - the Southern Hemisphere Forest Industry Journal and the Southern Hemisphere Forest Industry Yearbook. For about two decades, the main focus of plantation forestry in the Southern Hemisphere was on New Zealand and Chile, both countries rapidly expanding plantings of mainly Pinus radiata (otherwise known as Radiata pine) along with South Africa, where the focus was equally on Radiata pine and eucalyptus species. In recent years, new planting has increased in Argentina and Uruguay along with Australia. Massive plantings have also taken place in the southern states of Brazil.
The Southern Hemisphere forestry web site and information is provided by a dedicated company, Trade and Media Services Ltd, established in 1994 to provide a link between the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere. The company's director Mike Smith has 30 years experience in journalism - reporting, editing and publishing on the forestry sector for the past 20 years alone.
