I was born on 3 September 1982 in rural Punjab, and grew up in Chandigarh, in north India. I studied for 4 years at IIT Kharagpur before moving to the United States to pursue a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences at the Salk Institute in La Jolla, as a part of the UCSD Biology graduate program.
