Devon Joseph Werkheiser (born March 8, 1991) is an American actor. He is perhaps best known for his starring role as Ned Bigby on Nickelodeon's sitcom, Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide.[1]
Personal life
Werkheiser was born in Atlanta, Georgia. His father is a real state executive and his mother is a homemaker. At age six he started doing impressions of actor Jim Carrey in the movie Ace Ventura Pet Detective.[1] His parents then enrolled him in the Talent Factory, a local children's acting program, where he acted in various productions. At age 13, three years after his professional acting career started, he and his family moved to Los Angeles to avoid having to split time between Atlanta and Hollywood. He is currently enrolled in Laurel Springs School, a school that offers a long distance learning curriculum program. He is currently involved in helping local charities and is a member of the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation. [2] He is also working on a music album whose genre will be a combination of pop and rock.[3]
Acting career
Werkheiser's first professional acting was when he was in an NBA commercial. At the age of 10 he played the role of Mel Gibson's son in We Were Soldiers. In 2003 he was in the TV movie Recipe for Disaster. From 2004-2007 he starred in Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, his most notable role. While still on Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide he did the voice for Casper in Casper's Scare School and played Nolan Byrd in Shredderman Rules.[2]
