Merville-Franceville-Plage is a commune of the Calvados département in the Basse-Normandie région in France.
Geography
Merville-Franceville-Plage, more usually called Franceville, is situated on the Côte Fleurie, at 6km from Cabourg and 14 km from Caen. Merville Franceville is located on the right side of the Baie de l'Orne.
Climate
The commune is under the influence of the oceanic climate : Winter are warm and summer does not suffer of heat wave.
Monuments
- Redoute de Merville, fortification of the Hundred Years' War. Rediscovered by the occupying forces during World War II.
- Batterie de Merville or Merville Gun Battery is an historic site situated in the eastern flank of the landing area Sword Beach where the Lieutenant-colonel
Terence Otway carried out an heroic mission with his men of the 9th Battalion of Parachutists before the dawn of D-Day by neutralizing the artillery of the 
German battery.
