SSH Communications Security is a Finnish company that is based in Helsinki and was founded by Tatu Ylönen in 1995. It is known as the original developer of the Secure Shell protocol and it currently has about 80 employees. In 2006 its revenue numbered 9,5 million euros while the loss was 0,2 million. The company's CEO is Arto Vainio. The biggest shareholders are Tatu Ylönen, Assetman Oy, and Tero Kivinen.

The company's SSH Tectia solution addresses the most critical needs of large enterprises, financial institutions, and government agencies. As the original developer of the Secure Shell protocol and other key network security technologies, SSH Communications Security has for more than 12 years developed end-to-end communications security solutions specifically for the enterprise. Currently more than 100 of Global Fortune 500 companies are using SSH Tectia security solutions.

SSH Communications Security (SSH1V) has been listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange since 2000.
