Two mailboxes that were engaged in mailbox baseball.

Mailbox baseball or mailboxing is the act of using a baseball bat or other objects to knock over, dent, or smash roadside mailboxes by a passenger in a car. It can either be played as a game with score kept similar to baseball, or just done for fun. Either way, it is considered a form of vandalism.

It is depicted in the movies Stand by Me, The Benchwarmers, Dazed and Confused (with a trash can), and briefly in an episode of Family Guy. It was also depicted in an episode of The Simpsons where Dr. Hibbert and Dr. Nick were not available due to the fact that they were destroying mailboxes with a golf club.

U.S. Code Title 18, Section 1705 [1] prohibits the willful destruction of a mailbox, or mail within it, and allows for a fine and up to three years of imprisonment for persons who do so.
