“Hotelschool The Hague” is an international university specialized in hotel management education. It is located in the political capital – The Hague where the Queen Beatrix resides. The main facility of Hotelschool The Hague is just 15 minutes by walk from the famous beach – Scheveningen as well as the student dormitory (Skotel).
Hotelschool The Hague offers the Bachelor Degree in English for International students. The 4 year Bachelor course result in the internationally recognized Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration in Hotel Management (BBA.HM). The school also offers a Fast track programme and Master programme.
History
- ‘’Hotelschool The Hague’’ was founded in 1929 by HORECAF, the former employers’ organization in the hotel and catering sector. Over the years it has become one of the best Hotel Schools in the world, and is recognized as such by the business community as well as by the Dutch government. The World Tourism Organization has placed Hotelschool The Hague on its list of the "best hospitality training centers of the world".
- In 2002, Hotelschool The Hague opened a branch in Amsterdam that offers exactly the same curriculum. Each year, the intake consists of around 50% Dutch students and 50% international students. The international enrolment will add up to 30% in the Amsterdam campus in 2007.
- Since August 2002 Hotelschool The Hague is a member of The Leading Hotelschool of the World(LHSW).
- In 2004, a comparative research study “Mapping Knowledge” by the Dutch Ministry of Education has shown Hotelschool The Hague to be the best University of Professional Education in the Netherlands.
- In 2006, Hotelschool The Hague was described as one of the best three international centers of hotel management by "Caterer & Hotel keeper"
International reputation
The course programmes have been accredited by the Accreditation Organization of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO). Hotelschool The Hague is a member of the Leading Hotel Schools of the World; an association of top Hotel Schools in the world. Over 20% of the school’s staff members and 40% of the school’s students have an international background. Hotelschool The Hague has signed the Code of Conduct for international students and is registered as such with the Informatie Beheer Groep
Entrepreneurial learning
Hotelschool The Hague’s curriculum is based on the principle of ‘entrepreneurial learning’. The lecturer acts as a coach, rather than as a teacher. Instead of lecturing he provides the students with tasks and assignments, gives them introductory lectures and assists when there is problem. So a lecturer in front of huge, full classroom doing all the talking and spoonfeeding the students is a thing of the pass at Hotelschool The Hague.
