Hannes Hólmsteinn Gissurarson is a professor of political science at the University of Iceland.

He is well known in Iceland for his vocal support of various right-wing causes, in particular lower taxes and privatization of state-owned companies.

He has recently written a controversial biography on Halldór Kiljan Laxness.
