Sam Houston (wrestler)
Sam Houston was a professional wrestler in the 1980's. He is the son of wrestler Grizzly Smith and the half-brother of Jake Roberts and brother of Rockin' Robin.
Career
Sam Houston (born Michael Samuel Smith) started wrestling in 1985 in the NWA's Jim Crockett Promotions. He was the protege of Dusty Rhodes and Magnum T.A. which made him a target for the Four Horsemen. They got him in the summer of 1985 when Tully Blanchard and Ole and Arn Anderson "broke" his arm in a six-man tag team match.
In late 1985, he feuded with Krusher Khruschev over the Mid-Atlantic Title and won it in January 1986. He then feuded with Black Bart whom he lost the title to.
He formed a team during the summer of 1986 with Nelson Royal called the "Texas Tag Team". They did not have much success.
In late 1986, he moved on to the Central States territory where he won the title and feuded with Buddy Landel and Bill Dundee.
In 1987, Houston went to the WWF and feuded with Danny Davis and Barry Horowitz through 1988.
He then wrestled in the independents before showing up in the Global Wrestling Federation in 1992.
He was back in the independents for the rest of his career before retiring in 1998.
