Jessie Marie Davis is an American murder victim. She was the subject of a missing-person case in the state of Ohio widely covered by the American media, particularly the cable news channels, after she went missing with a near-term pregnancy to her second child. Jessie disappeared on June 13, 2007 after shopping at a local grocery store. Texas EquuSearch in particular mounted a full scale search of the area in the days prior to the discovery of her body.
On June 23, 2007, CNN reported that her body had been recovered from a wooded area in neighboring Summit County, Ohio, apparently in a portion of Hampton Hills Metro Park immediately adjacent to Cuyahoga Valley National Park; National Park Service Rangers are credited in helping to find the body. This article states that her boyfriend, Bobby Cutts, Jr. has been charged with two counts of murder.[1] Earlier reports had falsely stated that he had confessed to the crime.
An MSNBC report states that the body was in an "advanced state of decomposition", and that a dental records comparison, as well as DNA analysis would be done to ensure the identification; the autopsy will be performed Sunday, June 24.[2]
At the time, Cutts was a police officer with the Canton, Ohio Police Department. For much of the period leading up to the discovery of the body, the local local law enforcement authorities "repeatedly said Cutts" was "not a suspect"[3].
