SpebiBot is a Wikipedia bot fully operated and maintained by me, Spebi. SpebiBot will most likely run using the Python language and the Pywikipedia framework. SpebiBot will run for between one and two hours a day on weekends and possibly half an hour to a full hour of operation on some weekdays.

SpebiBot will review the Special:Whatlinkshere pages for highly used templates (such as {{unsigned}}, etc), filter it to show only talk pages and edit those talk pages (even archives) and substitute them as they are supposed to be. I am also open for suggestions on other highly used templates that require substitution. SpebiBot will ignore unsubst'd templates on protected discussion pages, and pages with <!--- SpebiBot IGNORE ---> tags before and after a template. This function will be expanded in the future if the bot is approved to further lengths like creating a category for whole pages with unsubst'd templates to be ignored, etc.

SpebiBot will also update the tally in WP:RFAs when in operation. This idea is open for expansion, and as to how this can be done is still in discussion.

As of late, I am not too sure as to how to program the bot, but the tasks I am creating the bot to do don't seem to complicated, and I will probably pick up Python programming pretty quickly. If you are experienced with the language, and would be willing to help me out a bit, contact me on my talk page or via email.

I am also aware of the message at the top of Wikipedia:Template substitution. Right now, SpebiBot will only be substituting {{unsigned}} and vandalism warnings, and I don't think that by substituting these will cause much of a problem.

Note: SpebiBot's substituting task has been approved by a member of BAG to operate. SpebiBot has not yet received a flag.
