Fruit and Nut some times known as Cadbury Fruit And Nut Bars are bars of milk chocolate with raisins and almonds which are made by Cadbury and based on their solid Dairy Milk bar, but containing nuts and raisins. These Fruit and Nut bars are made by Cadbury in the United Kingdom

History

The Dairy Milk bar has been around since the 1900s and the Fruit and Nut version was the first (of many) variations on a theme. It was introduced in 1928. Right before the depression of 1929. I’m guessing that few people could afford to eat much chocolate during the hungry thirties but nonetheless the Fruit and Nut bar is still with us.

The chocolate

There are 6 segments of this chocolate. I noticed that some segments contain fruit and nut, some just fruit and some just nuts. The chocolate is milk chocolate with raisins and almonds. The Cadbury name is embossed on each segment of chocolate.

Packaging

Cadbury’s fruit & nut has a foil easy to open wrapper with the usual Cadbury’s logo in gold writing. The foil is mainly purple with red writing stating Fruit and Nut and the price 99p. There are pictures on the front of grapes and almonds, so it is obviously not just chocolate.

Taste and smell

As soon as you open the wrapper you are filled with the gorgeous smell of Cadburys milk chocolate. The smell also has a hint of raison but it is mainly the dairy milk smell that gets me and want to start eating. The bar is divided into little squares (Note single bars are more of a rectangle shape) and have Cadburys imprinted on each square. Splitting the fruit and nut bars is always a bit more tricky as there is normally a raison or nut stuck in the middle. It doesn't bother me though as it's all going to get eaten in the end.

Cadburys are very proud fo their chocolate (which they should be too, it's lovely) and informs us on the back of the pack that the bar of chocolate which you are about to stuff your face with is packed full of carefully selected raisins and blanched whole almonds and milk chocolate contains a glass and half of full cream milk in every half pound produced. If you are not satisfied with your bar then it should be returned with it's wrapper to Cadbury Limited, PO Box 7008, Bournville, Birmingham, B30 2PT, UK and if brought in Ireland it should be returned to Cadbury Ireland Ltd, Coolock, Dublin 5. Also, if this is not enough on the whole customer service front then they also have a customer careline if your not satisfied or if you'd like to know more about their chocolate. Open between office hours and it's freephone UK on 0800 818181.
