License tagging for Image:Hitoe rise tour.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Hitoe rise tour.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Image:Takako Uehara 17.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Takako Uehara 17.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECU≈talk 16:04, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi, you removed the section "Rankings and performace" from this page, and a section from the intro. It's worth is debatable, but could you please give some justification on the talk page first before making such a large change? Thanks. Recurring dreams 07:45, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. I've added the below at the talk page.
- I do not know enough about the ranking procedures to make a valid assessment of their reliability myself. However, almost every page on wikipedia about universities make a reference to them, including top ones like Harvard University, University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, to Australian universities: University of Sydney, University of Technology, Sydney, and Macquarie University. In fact you'll be hard pressed to find too many pages that don't mention them. In that light, as the broad consensus on wikipedia has been to include them, I think we should keep the section on rankings.
Furthermore, I think as you are advocating a rather large change, I think it would be best to keep the material until we form a consensus. Cheers. Recurring dreams 09:05, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Non-free use disputed for Image:Moment.jpg
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Moment.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:14, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
