"Given Up"
Song

"Given Up" is the second track from Linkin Park's third studio album Minutes to Midnight.

"Given Up", along with, "What I've Done" and "No More Sorrow" made its live debut on April 28, 2007 in Berlin, Germany. Live performances of these three songs at the AOL sessions were released on AOL on May 5, 2007. They also play in the background on the band's official website.[1]

This is the one of the heaviest songs on the album,(along with "No More Sorrow") and is notable for lead singer, Chester Bennington, screaming for approximately 17 consecutive seconds near the end of the track during the hardcore punk-styled breakdown.[citation needed]

The song also has a distinct jingle sound during the verses, (which the band revealed in the Minutes To Midnight Special Edition CD/DVD package) was created by shaking guitarist Brad Delson's car keys.

Also Linkin Park have stated that this is either the first or second heaviest song on the album, with Linkin Park stating "it has a punk/industrial guitar theme, and Hardcore (Punk) and Alternative (Rock) all mixed together.[citation needed].

Chart performance

Although the song has yet to be released as a cd-single, it has already charted on Billboard's Hot 100 and Pop 100 charts, at numbers 99 and 78 respectively.[citation needed] modern rock stations.
