Page move
Hi there! I saw your request for a page move. I wasn't sure what you wanted me to do, so I've changed Lethem to a redirect. Go into the page and see the syntax I used there. You can do this by clicking on a very small link in the top left hand corner of the article screen. --HappyCamper 17:38, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
- I'm still getting used to the most appropriate way to do page cleanup. Thanks for the info on redirecting. -Nick Taylor 17:43, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
- No problem :-) If you have any more questions, please feel free to leave a message on my talk page! Here are some links which might interest you: Wikipedia:Cleanup and Wikipedia:Maintenance - on the right is a full listing of cleanup projects on Wikipedia. Each page has a full listing of cleanup projects on the side. --HappyCamper 18:07, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
African and Caribbean Studies
Hi Nick - Happy New Year!
I write to ask if you would be interested in helping create an article on "African and Caribbean Studies", a subject which is being offered in more and more universities throughout the world? I notice from your that you are a Guyanese Wikipedian, so I thought you may be a good person to ask. The reason I wanted to start this article is that I have an interest in Caribbean history and culture, particularly that of Guyana, where I worked for two years. I've created some articles on Guyanese writers, (for example) Wilson Harris, Roy Heath, and Fred D'Aguiar, and while researching the latter, noticed that he had read African and Caribbean Studies at Kent in 1985 (I think that Kent was one of the first Universities in England to offer the subject). However, my own expertise lies in computing, engineering and socialist history, so I hope you will be able to assist.
Hope you can help - All the best for 2006! Camillustalk 19:49, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Camillus:
This is a great and useful idea but I don't have the time to contribute right now. I'm concentrating on geographical and natural history subjects right now - working on a List of Birds of Guyana right now. Please keep me updated as I may be able to contribute articles for some prominent Guyanese. Nick Taylor 15:17, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
Animated Golden Arrowhead
Hi Nick - I've uploaded an animated flag of Guyana - if you're interested in putting it on your user page, just added this: [[Image:GuyanaFlag.gif]]

Guyanese people
Since Jagan and Jagdeo are already in the daughter cat, Guyanese Presidents, and since Guyanese Presidents are (necessarily) Guyanese "people", I think the Guyanese people cat should not be added in these cases - Guettarda 17:28, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Guettarda. Categorising entries in Wikipedia is one of the things that I'm trying to get used to. My presumption was that the Category pages should provide an easy link for someone looking for, in this case, a person that fits the category. If I didn't know that Jagdeo was a President of Guyana I wouldn't easily find him on the Category:Guyanese people page. Help.
- I just looked at your user page - are you trying to put together a List of birds of Guyana article? If so, I think you should get in touch with User:Jimfbleak (I would also be interested in lending a hand). You also might be interested in the Wikipedia:Caribbean Wikipedians' notice board. Guettarda 17:32, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the link to Jimfbleak. I'm nearly finished the draft so will do that first. Nick Taylor 19:52, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
List of mammals in Guyana
Hi. I just stumbled into one of your edits and I checked out your user page. It says you may do a list of mammals in Guyana. If I may offer a recommendation is to make a list of endemic animals of Guyana instead since a list of mammals would actually be really hard and long to accomplish. I have started something similar with Puerto Rico's animals, List of endemic fauna of Puerto Rico. Feel free to add info on the animals or talk to me on my talk page. categories
Since Category:Fauna of Guyana is in Category:Wildlife of South America, you should not add both to an article. One or the other only please. - UtherSRG (talk) 03:39, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
This is where I get confused with Wikipedia Categories. I have been working on developing Category:Fauna of Guyana. I chose to add the super-category Wildlife of South America as I thought that it was inclusive. My rationale is that the Category page gives visibility to pages within the category. If an animal is endemic to one country in South America then not listing both categories reduces the visibility of that animal's article. What happens when someone establishes a Category:Mammals of Guyana. Would they have to remove the Category:Fauna of Guyana, a superset of that category? Nick Taylor 04:04, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
- If mammals of Guyana is created then fauna of Guyana would have to be removed from the mammal article. Joelito 04:10, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
Hey
Hey. Nice to meet you. I'm Guyanese too.
- Greetings. There's lots to do adding Guyanese info to Wikipedia. Hope you're able to contribute. Nick Taylor 13:32, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
I've never been to Guyana but can you tell me where "British Guyana" is??
- No problem. It's the same country. British Guiana (note spelling) is the predecessor of Guyana, named that way as it was a British colony. Nick Taylor 12:51, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
Template:Title in your sandbox (no pun intended, :P)
I've fixed the link to Template:Title in your sandbox page to point to User:SushiGeek/Title. The deletion and userfication of Template:Title was all done per a discussion on templates for deletion. SushiGeek 16:03, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
Poison Dart Frog Naming
Hi,
I am currently working on improving the articles about the poison dart frogs. I have started by creating all the genus articles, but something has struck me while I was working on them. Almost all of the species articles are titled by their scientific name. According to the Tree of Life guidelines, articles should be named by their common name, and if their is none, by their scientific name. I noticed that you created some of the articles, and I would like your opinion in the discussion on Talk:Poison dart frog. It would be easier to reach consensus about all the articles in one place than to have to do it on each individual page. Thankyou. --liquidGhoul 00:12, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Song of Guyana's Children, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at Talk:Song of Guyana's Children. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. NickelShoe (Talk) 16:10, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
- Andrew Jefferson-Miles has also been proposed for deletion. See WP:BIO for the relevant guidelines. NickelShoe (Talk) 18:01, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Clem Seecharan, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Denis Williams
Dear Nick,
I have seen your short article on my father, the late Denis Williams. Here are a couple of links for your interest. You may want to cite these with your article. The first is a published article. I'm not a Wiki member or know the wiki etiquestte.

Notability of Denise Harris
A tag has been placed on Denise Harris, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. greenrd 01:25, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
Nigel Westmaas
A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Nigel Westmaas, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. 172.149.55.172 23:17, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
