Costa Serena is the newest cruise ship of the Costa Cruises fleet, and has been characterized by the line as its flagship. She is expected to commence her maiden voyage on May 26,2007. On May 19, 2007, the Costa Serena commenced its inagural event in Marseille, France. The name Serena was intended to symbolize harmony and serenity. The ship is under construction at Sestri Ponente. Her sister ship, the Costa Concordia was launched last year. The two ships are the largest and longest ships in the Costa Cruises fleet.

Inaugural Event

May 19th, 2007 marked the day of the Costa Serena's inagural event. The event was held in Marseille, France. At night, fireworks lit up the sky as the Costa Serena sat in the Old Port of Marseilles.
