Loren Stokes

Loren Stokes (born November 12 1983) is an American professional basketball player. He was a senior combo guard at Hofstra University. He is 6'3" and weighs 175 lbs. Stokes is one of only five players in Hofstra Pride history to score at least 2,000 points, amassing 2,148 points over his four year career.[1] A three time first team CAA player, 2004-05 all defensive CAA player, and 2006-07 CAA player of the year,[2] Stokes is considered one of the best players to ever suit up for Hofstra's basketball program. Stokes was eligible for the 2007 NBA Draft, he went undrafted but was offered an invitation to play in the Orlando Magic summer league.

Tony Skinn incident

In the CAA conference tourney in March 2006, Tony Skinn was boxing out with Stokes. Then, Skinn threw a punch into his groin and sent him to the bench with an ice pack on his lap. Skinn was later suspended for George Mason's 1st Round game against Michigan State. Stokes is now summer league teammates with Skinn in the Orlando Magic summer league team.

Personal

Stokes attended Turner-Carroll High School in Buffalo, New York, after his 4 years there, he was prepped during the 2002-2003 season at St. Thomas More. Stokes has one brother, Leonard, who played at the University of Cincinnati. Loren's cousin, Corey will play for the Villanova Wildcats next season. Corey played for St. Benedict's Prep this season. Loren's mother, Candace Stokes has colon cancer.
